We did Robert, we did!
I think he is unrolling the fly sheet because you can see it’s ropes hanging down over the top pallet.
Elf and Stupid would have kittens if they could see what we did every day back then!

Can anyone tell me if the ■■■■■■■ E290 was ever fitted in the Crusader as I have never seen or heard of one. Thanks.Just Rolls or Detroit weren’t they?
Something tells me a 240 Percy was also an engine option ,perhaps Dennis can confirmDavid
I was involved with Crusaders from 1977 until 1984 and as far as I know the civilian versions only used Rolls engines, the first one I drove was a 1976 and had Rolls 220 and the last one I had was a 1980 and had Rolls 290 fitted.
That would be a 280 Roller as they didn’t make a 290 to my knowledge

There was a 290 Rolls eagle engine as when I was at Sykes they had around 6 Foden Fleetmasters on a “T” plate 78 which had the 290 rolls badge on now it could have been a 280 tweaked or badge engineering I can’t recall but we had them from new
cheers Johnnie

This motor supplied by Pickfords Trafford Park had a 290 Rolls fitted from new - I bought it 2nd hand in 1982:
Gabe Harding told me he sent it back to the dealer…and bought F88s instead!

another shot of Glenny’s Crusader.regards prattman.
Hiya,
I did a Glasgow return trip in this beauty what a motor, it needed two strong
men wielding a crowbar to get me out of the cab.
thanks harry, long retired.
Does anyone know where I can get a crusader bumper, the narrow one from a 4x2 tractor unit?

Apparently the James Smith’s C86 YLS was the last Crusader made or registered - not sure which, and was kept in storage until 1986 before being used

Here you go Steve , 1x high Wycombe depot (very early Crusader ) and Maidstone depot .
They look good in white Jakey but I bet they soon went brownish red!
