Thanks to Paul Catt for this Ozzy picture:
This was one of a batch sold to Yugoslavia for hauling gas tanks. Note it’s badged as a Leyland. Photographed at the Schwarzbach autobahn frontier in 1973.
Good fleet wagon/ trunker.

I know I have posted this ex Oxford wrecker on the Oxford firms and BRS topics , but thought I better post it here , this was pictured at Tilbury docks in 2010 by the ex driver /fitter of this wagon , it was bound for Lagos , Steve found the old breakdown log still in the cab , I loved this wagon and steve was forever washing her whilst I polished the cab .

The Crusader had a great look, I always thought it would have looked equally at home on Route 66 as it did on the A66!
Stopped in at old Truck Show in Hickory, North Carolina, USA a couple weeks back and was amazed to find this “Old Girl” a long way from home, In great shape too
How she looks today !!

Can anyone tell me if the ■■■■■■■ E290 was ever fitted in the Crusader as I have never seen or heard of one. Thanks.Just Rolls or Detroit weren’t they?
Something tells me a 240 Percy was also an engine option ,perhaps Dennis can confirm

I was involved with Crusaders from 1977 until 1984 and as far as I know the civilian versions only used Rolls engines, the first one I drove was a 1976 and had Rolls 220 and the last one I had was a 1980 and had Rolls 290 fitted.
This was a very early shot of our old wrecker (early 80s ) , she was taken off the road ,chassis extended and the body was just plonked on her with out any mods to the body , years later as per the later photos she was modified , please note the early name of her was "the BAZ MACHINE " later changed to "the happy ■■■■■■ " .

He’s either unsnaring ropes that have got caught up (or turned out to be too short), or he’s preparing to unfurl a flysheet. Be not surprised, we used to do unimaginable things in those days - it was normal!! Robert
