@Stuar pretty much as I envisioned, much the same here except we have fewer hubs greater distances apart. Carryfast wants to drive the length of the country,in an 8V92 powered Bedford, to deliver a 5kg parcel. He has no idea, no wonder he failed at everything. He’s like a kid, just wanting to play at a serious business.
Well sitting in the sun on Southampton dock waiting for my next box being paid full rate for internet browsing ,
Kettle is on and got to be in Bristol for 2pm which I won’t make if box turns up now as I’ll have to take. 30 min break
What time is Babe Channel on, if the aerial is rocking, don’t come knocking?
Free view midnight until ten past midnight.
Anyone who needs more than ten minutes to finish either isn’t paying proper attention or simply isn’t trying.
I did over 10 years of trunking in which exactly the same C an D regime applied but by definition collections were all done after deliveries for obvious reasons. You can’t put collections on a truck loaded with deliveries.
The difference was that we’d have up to 2-8 trailer loads going between every depot around the country.
IE 8 trailer loads between Feltham and Dewsbury per night with 4 drivers.
I also did around 4 years on a Scottish change over trunk. In which the 16 tonner rigid prime mover, was on a paper contract, collecting pallets of paper from a mill in Scotland for next day multi drop around the South East.
We coupled a trailer to the prime mover hauling other next day deliveries effectively at no cost.
My last job was a rigid prime mover load from Feltham and a trailer load from Luton for Dewsbury and then same back.Return loads between South East and Yorkshire, serving 3 different depots with 1 driver.
How would you do that in a hub system ?.
I provided a reason why 9.5 hours pay for a 12.5 hour shift won’t breach NMW rules.Hub system transhipment downtime, being designated by the employer as break, is a reason.
Thanks , I will make sure the Mrs is fast asleep when I sneak in to the lounge to watch that.
Quick question. Genuine too. During your traumatic ordeal did the rest of the drivers from your company have to endure this torture that was inflicted upon you? If so, then you simply worked for a rubbish company. If not, then they just didn’t like you personally!
I must say that nobody else ever in the whole history of transport has ever, ever been subjected to the things you describe/invent.
Basil Brush comes to mind, Boom Boom, he only swept up the yard with a brush.
Nice swerve to answering my post but I have no idea what you are waffling on about and I don’t think I’m alone there!
To repeat, there was no mention of hub systems or any of the other stuff you have a bee in your bonnet over in the OP, so no idea why you keep babbling on about it in every post you do!
I think we could be onto something here.
Is this the sort of nonsense Carryfast does?
No skills or physical effort required, suit him to the ground.
Does that job come with a broom for manual labour?
to comment on the o/p’s post. There is a company near me that the full timers are on a salary basis. they get paid x amount of hours per shift (i think its 10 but dont quote me) any hours they do over that gets recorded then when they are over staffed those that have enough hours banked get a day/night off paid. Of course this also keeps their 17/26 week average down.
Im betting the advert you have seen is something simular either banked hours or as has been suggested some scam of insisting that you use break/poa while waiting to be tipped/loaded or for a vehicle/trailer
You may recognise CF from his previous career as a successful actor in these tv soap series, Benny from Crossroads, Stanley Ogden in Coronation Street and Eddie Yeats the bin man, a man of multiple talents.
Just seen him on the M5 in Strensham services in an Austin Allegro Vanden Plas with a square steering wheel.
Another day another bay ,
This time Andover , this time Andover 1/2 hr tip need some more supplies so go on google and aldi’s is 10mins walk round corner , told goods in I’m off up the shop and did my shopping and had a 20min walk to boot all on the card .
God this job is hard
I will dispatch CF there to brush out your empty container.
CF the yard foreman.
I’m ‘babbling on about it’ because being paid 9.5 hours for a 12.5 hour shift would be fine under NMW requirements assuming 3 hours of the shift is designated as break.
A hub system transhipment sort would explain the need for 12.5 hour shift and 3 hours break.Possibly even more total shift time and downtime.
