I have just found out my handout from my last DCPC course… it shows 8 hours “duty” but with 3 hours work, 2 hours poa and then 3 hours work… but the 15 min break is positioned at the “8 hour” mark… it was an association course, so -I hope they know what they were on about…

This goes towards what I am saying, if you had worked in the yard for 3 hours, then driven for three hours, you would need a 15m break at six hours.
You have been on duty for 8 hours and then take a 15 then because the 6 hours work wasn’t consecutive

If you start work at 6 am and do6am start so RTD break in mind for 1200 (noon).
EDR
0600-0615 15 minutes check
0615-0815 2 hours drive
0815-0915 1 hour other work
0915-1015 1 hour drive
1015-1115 1 hour POA known about in advance RTD in mind +1 hour now for break by 1300.
1115-1145 30 minutes other work
1145-1155 10 minutes cup of tea with warehouse chap (all I could manage) it was recorded as a break on the tacho RTD in mind +10 mins for break by 1310.
1155-1310 1h15m other work
1310-1325 break. 15m break
1325-1410 45m other work
1410-1510 1 hour drive
1510-1525 15 minutes debrief
1525-1540 15 break
1540-1541 1m other work
SDRWhen is the latest I can take my RTD break,(put it in the list and say why its there) and long would it need to be.
These are the latest times I’d have in mind over a unknown type of shift. I’d use break instead of POA for the hour. If forced into POA then if I knew when I was going to finish, I’d have 30m break (1015-1045) / 30m (1045-1115) POA instead of a whole hour POA or have 30 minutes break at 1310. As I never know when I’m going to finish, I tend to put off a RTD until the last minute. I’ve the odd day too (just as a point to trainers that have any weird ideas thirty after six ) when I’ve legitimately taken three 15s.

You can write [zb] on TN but you cannot write [zb] because it gets auto-censored and looks [zb]
I will put another spanner in the works for this argument, when stopped for a roadside check about 18 months ago, I was asked by the vosa guy checking my cards why I had taken just over an hours poa in the morning, then gone back to work for 10 mins then gone on break, I explained turned up early at my loading place to be first in cue and I knew they didn’t open for just over an hour, pulled on weight bridge and then took sheet off to load and then went on break while being loaded as I went for a coffee ect, his words to me were that vosa count the first 45 mins of poa as break anyway so I was perfectly legal, now I was single manned tramping all week so how does that work as I was under the impression that 45 on poa was only for double manning, but according to the guy its not

you could of be stopped the next day at the same place by a different Vosa guy with a different answer.
I was stopped by vosa once in Erith and there was two vosa guys there and one of them said how come you have got POA for 1 hour on your card and then 45 minutes break 10 minutes later, I said I needed a break he said the same as you , I said I am not doubled manned mate, he said what’s that got to do with it, I said it can only be counted as break if the truck is moving and my card is in slot two, or yes sorry that’s right, just testing you.
