Hunter40:
Thanks georgeking we will give it a blinkin good shot ! that pub the pandy inn is miles from us though, its nr hay on wye so rob roy will need a horse if he wants to visit it from cafe looks good pub though from the link you gave .
New business venture for you Hunter, horse hire , By the way I stopped a couple of weeks ago, grub was good so I will come back, what about a meal voucher option for drivers like me that enjoy screwing a couple of quid out of a tight arsed employer.
Hey robroy maybe good idea about the horse hire Glad you enjoyed the grub you are welcome back anytime … introduce yourself next time … had a member in the other day to say hello “lightening” i think he survived the food lol was good to meet you lightning thanks for stopping by… also i forgot to say we had a visit from Colin Barnett the new editor of the truck and driver magazine a couple of weeks ago.Was a saturday morning and we had been very quiet …until colin ordered his breakfast then it went a bit busy and im afraid it took longer to make it than i would have liked … also ran out of butter and gave dry toast instead of the fried bread he ordered but he was a true gent and didnt hit me to hard .
Colin did say he would put little mention in the magazine this month … the 5th i think, so i cant wait to see the verdict , dont think it will be too bad as he seemed to drive off very well in own car not an ambulance !
Regards hunter 40
robroy , i forgot to say i did ask the market people if could do meal voucher … they did say we could charge £12.50 to inc a bacon buttie and a tea but they said they wanted £10.50 of that not £10 as it involved extra VAT ! we did offer it to drivers but most said no as they thought £10 was to much as it is ! so now we are back to the £10 only as its much simpler .
I bought the truck & driver magazine to read the write up colin the editor done after his visit to cafe
and found it to be very fair p82, thanks colin.
I have got new guy named jess working at cafe and prob end up as business partners as he works the place more than me as im back at work and he is doing a great job , open 24hrs now with someone there when shut for security , also a new guy starting next thursday who is a very good cook (another dave )so now is going to be make or break , still eager to do changes and hopefully it will be soon when lease sorted, as they reconed its due in march … been eying up wood and paint ready to build the cover over food order area and sort toilets and showers out good and proper .
Thanks for the drivers who are now regular visitors , we need and appreciate the business .

Congrats mate. Good to see you’ve turned what used to be [zb] hole into a good place to stop for a bite to eat and cuppa. Unfortunately it’s unlikely I’ll ever get to visit due to my location but all the best with it and I hope it thrives for you.
I’d be nice for the folks on here to leave some comments in this thread if you’ve stopped there since it’s changed hands and say how you found the food and service.
Thanks rob k, shame you cant get in … it would be nice to hear what guys think of the place and we can take criticism and open to suggestions as well as compliments.
Thetaff is right there is a pub 10 mins walk also the travellers rest but if the road busy its hell to cross as mrs will tell you … took her 15 mins one time she still gives me stick now lol
Well i popped in Wednesday for a quick bacon and egg sarnie and a coffee i admit not the most taxing of meals lol.
but i was nice and warm coffee was spot on and the lads who were working were really friendly and chatty
And yes i will be back

i heard the owner reads this forum so i wonder if he’ll come on like the j26 guy did and answer his critics lol
Well if he does come on and have a look then i’ll add to the insult your a disgusting flea ridden excuse for a man your ‘truckstop’ is a joke and yes i’m amazed your still in buisness as the place has less hygiene than the local dump.

Er, you’ve not read this thread have you? Perhaps you might like to read it first and then consider retracting your statement.

I think you are rather misinformed Try visting this place before you have an out of date opinion ,I Have eaten here several times since the new owner took over and everytime it gets better the food is excelent and the staff polite and clean

Well exmayor think you need to follow RobK’s advice and read the whole of this thread very carefully and then offer your apologies to Hunter40 and retract your statement. That is unless you have been to the revamped venue very recently and have had a bad experience But I can only say it’s seems if you have you are the only one because everyone who has visited and posted on here has only good to report on the effort hunter40 has done to improve the whole place.
Guy’s apollogise as yes i did not read the whole thread so i will stop and give it a try but in the meantime thankyou for telling me off
Further to that the last time i went there was approx 2 years ago so having read the whole thread it looks like the guy running it now has made a real difference so again apology’s
Well I’m sure Hunter40 will appreciate your apology It’s very easy to make a comment on the last post in a thread and then realise you’ve dropped a bollock, done it myself and had to make a public apology.
We live and learn
All the best
Regards
Dave Penn;
I called in during the day a couple of weeks ago with the other half just for a coffee and a quick look. Certainly much cleaner than before and the coffee was fine. I spoke to the “new partner” - seemed a pleasant guy
Exmayor … sillymare lol apology accepted , easy done , something strange happend with my comp and not been able to find these pages ! even though im logged in on site.
yes still not the ritz but we are having talks with owners and new people who are taking over the cattle market , there are many changes to come over next 6 months and some of the changes include new showers for ladies and men and ladies toilets , these will all be in the main building , i have asked for more lighting around truck park and also leveling the parking areas off , but most off the problems on parking areas are caused by screwing the trailers round instead of wide turns so please try not to screw round on the ■■■■■■■■ parking areas , as we get to know more of the plans then i shall tell you all about them.
with the BP garage charging £10 to park and £2.50 for a shower now im sure we can offer something better even in what we have now ! … also soon there will be a security guy on all night who will be required to walk around truck park ,
they wanted to make whole place secure parking and charge £22 (advised by RHA) as average price of secure parking , i have said £15 with maybe a £2 or £3 meal voucher would be more accepable and also an area where those who dont want secure parking prices can park for the £10 they charge now , this will be the area to the left as you enter the cattlemarket.
there is also talk of moving the cafe up the yard a bit as they want to rent the ground to truck sales place next to us for good money. … phew knackerd now .
take care all… hunter40
forgot to say a big thanks to those that responded on our behalf , nice to know our efforts has been noted , we will strive to keep improving … thank you !
