hi,

regards andrew
I look forward to calling in when I get my licence renewed from Swansea I assume you’ve got the lease sorted now then? It’s good to see someone making an effort to improve facilities for us…
Andrew very nice trucks mate hope you won something ! sarge lease still not sorted but lots going on , they have said they putting showers in the main building for ladies and gents (seperate lol) in next couple of months and want to do secure parking so saying they will fence all around with decent fencing and have guard all night , we have painted up the diner outside this last few days , but there is so much talk going around about lease so will have to wait a bit longer but we will carry on as if all ok and just hope he renews lease ok. you are all welcome anytime you are passing we appreciate the business thank you all
Mr B:
last nite i had the misfortune of doing a trailer change at this over priced dump i was supposed to be going to strensham but lack of driving time meant we had to do it here. i had to pay £10 for parking plus another £10 for change over.
this morning i was having a good moan to girl in snack van n she said at least its cheaper than services, no its not i said i did same job 2 weeks ago and paid £20 and the food was better too!!
its got to be the worst place in the country
you what!?!?!■■!

Sorry redbob what is the shock about ? the very old post or someone likes the place
I stopped there yesterday for a bite to eat, bloody lovely food, the best ■■■■■■ I ever had, pardon the pun, the only problem I had was the portion size - far too big , by the time I stuffed my face till I was about to explode and then waddled back to my lorry I needed a kip, never did make it to Liverpool last night, i overslept!
I’m looking forward to stopping here for food as I now pass regular but shamefully not actually tried it.
As far as the new charges go can I suggest you take a look at the red lion in Northampton where it’s 12 quid to park with no food or 16 with an 8 pound food voucher now that’s service I get all my expenses back anyway but if you want it packed every night I think a 2-3 quid voucher won’t be enough to bring everyone in
How are the showers there? I have used the ones at BP as they are hot and clean and again going on your past rep I haven’t chanced it with you do you charge for passers by?
Thanks.
Ollie, I think the problem is that Hunter doesn’t set the parking rates. The Lorry Park is owned by the market, and he rents the premises from them. I think he mentioned putting a voucher with it, but they then wanted a cut - so he would actually be losing out
If I’ve got that wrong, I apologise.
Hi sarge & ollie yes its correct the market do set parking charges , i am just trying to keep them down , as i said before they talked to RHA and they said £22 to £24 is average for secure parking which they would like to do … which i feel is way to high and also they want us to provide the security which i think they should provide and they want us to do but i think employing someone from 6pm till 5…6am 6 or 7 nights a week is going beyond me i cant afford to do that so will talk with owners.
as for showers we still do not have anything working and they are putting showers in over next couple of months in main building for ladies and gents which obviously will be usable as long as cafe open or security operating in truck park … we will do best to open 6 or 7 nights .
its looking like cafe will shut around 2am and reopen at 6am at moment its open 24hrs but we really cannot get decent staff! over last week we have had trucks parked overnight but cooking their own food in cabs drivers say its much cheaper for them to do this , we have taken through till average of £8 a night and paid out 40 not including gas etc , that said its good the trucks are coming in again to park it will get better with time.

Random suggestions, but have you thought about getting some of those foldable stand/board thingies and setting them up in between the exits off the roundabout with “CAFE - UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT” on them (or words to the effect of)? I know you’ll no doubt tell me that the council said x, y and z and they wouldn’t allow them, but that’s what councils do, just ignore them and put them there anyway. It’s highly unlikely anything would ever come of it (putting signs out when you’re “not allowed”).

I second that - I pass every night (can’t stop - on a mission!) and there’s nothing obvious and no mention of new management. The old owners used to dump a van (wreck!) with a sign on the grass verge - at least it stood out
Worth the effort - much improved when I called in a few weeks back (in the car).
We have put signs out but they get moved on same day by the council , i have been to see them left name address phone number with woman at reception but they dont get intouch , thats why we are looking at getting the cattle market road signs changed to mention cafe and parking , those signs have permission so shouldnt get taken away .
Also thinking of getting some signs i saw today in a petrol station , they are like a long fishing rod bent over with a cloth sign stretched over then stood in a weighted base … i was thinking of getting some up on poles stood along the market fence next to dual carriageway obviously with out the heavy base just going on internet to see if i can find some suppliers.
Thanks for suggestions they all help !

That is the new breed of driver mate, they park up, pull the curtains, watch soap operas while cooking their tea, then chuck the rubbish on the floor and the ■■■■ bottle they used during the night.
I don’t hold with subsidised meals linked into parking tickets but if it keeps you in business and a decent place to stay then so be it.

i love the idea of a meal voucher with parking ticket… more the better, in fact i remember a few years back pay for parking and free dinner.

I prefer the idea of getting a proper subsistence allowance, and the bloke who owns the truck pays for the parking. Not what happens now with linked parking.
