I was in there yesterday (tuesday) and I am still alive 
seriously though, I had a decent size brekky for a good price. No hottie’s though, just the young lad and Mrs Hunter turned up as my grub was being cooked.
I do hope you get the long lease cos the place is overdue for some renovations, but I totally understand you not wanting to spend hundreds or thousands on it just to be kicked out in march.

i was there saturday morning and i was impressed with my breakfast the place is still a dump as explained theres no point in spending a lot on a sort lease. i hope word gets round and its a success for you we need more decent cafes so where people are trying we should support them.
Semtex & Mr B, sorry i missed you both ,thanks for good words about the food … true to say there isnt good words for the buildings sadly .
This friday i intend to do something about toilet floor as had water leaking and its gone soft (er) i have replaced pipe and olives and joint it just wont stop dripping i think anger and a blow torch will work friday…no not on the building the joints ! 
Hope to get news on lease soon … hope so as my mrs hates working there … only because of the surroundings , she would be ok if get proper facillities , so i get lots of grief from her at moment 
though it do make her happier when hear people compliment the food etc as it is hard work and takes her an hour and half on bus when im working.

well fixed the leak , and sorted toilet floor so hopefully no one will go through it now i even sort of repaired the door of the log burner in eating area …i say sort of as it needed new glass but got chunk of steel instead 
im sure it will be just as hot as glass door … now to find £200 for the logs to put on fire … sounds dear to me so will shop around a bit, have some old pallets hanging around there so they can go in it , any passing lumberjacks can feel free to leave a tree behind 
Just read about you taking over the place Hunter. I’ll make sure to pop in sometime when passing, deffo look forward to see the changes.
Thanks cargo girl , hope i am there when you call in … just bit about opening over christmas … we are closed for 2 weeks from 21st , we had to shut this week as my wife could not get bus from gloucester to ross as they didnt want to drive in snow also the guy who been working for me shut up shop monday without telling me and never opened tuesday when i thought he was open … then tells me tuesday night he has quit !
as we were going to shut friday about 2/3pm i thought may as well stay shut now till 4th as need to find a replacement asap , sorry if this has caused any problems for anyone but as im working till friday i cant do anything about it .

Hope you all had a good christmas and new year , mine has been eventful … 1st i slipped when getting into truck nearly breaking my knee 
managed to work a week but by end of that could hardly walk so went doctors and got 3 weeks off as she was annoyed id carried on working and said knee knackered .
Been handy in a way as been able to take the mrs to the cafe to work
Then some local idiots broke into cafe and took all the stock inc the bloody onions we chopped up ready to use 
desperate or what! they wiped us out of everything even smashed the till open although the key was in it and empty … we now know who they are and the address so if cops cant do anything i will go say thank you 
if anyone knows someone who wants to live in ross area at the cafe let me know , there is a place to stay … we are going to keep it attended all time now … i have spent nights there but need help … i am trying to get someone who will work the cafe as well if possible but would be ok just for security .

Better go down the line of thoughts: If they are that needy that they want to nick some chopped onions, surely they must be happy to receive all your leftovers (rubbish). So perhaps some donations to their household would help them out and keep them from crime. As a decent citizen you’re only trying to help those who are less fortunate. Right ? 
Thanks Mr B , trying to hang on but the hardest battle i have is with the mrs , as i said before she do not like the place as it is and wants to walk away now but i do like the place and think i can make it good , soon the owner should know about the lease and then i will know where we stand , he is confident it will be renewed but i am playing it cautious before spending lots getting it how i want it.
Now Putting some more cameras up as the thieves broke the old stuff when they smashed up the mobile home out back of cafe , still finding more stuff missing each day like my grinder and jigsaw which was in store room found yesterday they took the amp and things to do with a music system for outside cafe … dont know if it worked but thats not the point.
Cargo girl , i understand where you are coming from and i will stay cool a bit longer and see how things go with cops .

Hi washy jnr, yes on mondays its open by 8am , we was opening at 6 but nothing happens until about 9am , will be open 24 hrs on mon and tues, working on night shift for rest of week … will have security but dont trust him to cook lol … will let you know if find someone can cook … then wont need security as cook will be able to look after it instead … phew flippin hard to man these places ashly who is working monday is good cook so you will be looked after.
I have to be careful when at cafe as my bosses not happy i go there with mrs , but have said as long as i dont work they would accept me being there but may come check … as long as they pay for the food or drinks they have they are more than welcome
Just thought i would say how the enviromental health people came visited us 2 days ago and was impressed on the changes and clean up so gave us a “2 star” rating with the comment that if we had been in the catering business longer she would have given us a 3 or 4 star , but could not as she only just gave us a manual we must use… also commented that it had never had above 1 star before so we are well happy … so will have certificate displayed as soon as it comes through
i like the rest have been a few years ago.
i had a bacon sarny and i threw it back at em as i would not have given it to my pigs.
the place was disgusting, and vile.
i now no longer get down ross way very much, BUT IF AND WHEN I DO I WILL ALSO GIVE YOU A TRY.

you certainly do have a mountain to climb, but once you are well on your way and people take notice they will soon spread the news and they will come flocking back in large nimbers.

Hi Greggy, thanks mate i too think it will be worth it as these places are getting fewer… the big companies and high prices are taking over , we still do a good size meal for reasonable price … not just me saying it the customers are too.
as for questions on woodwork i think its a woodworkers nightmare mainly replacing floor sections and would like to make a cover over serving/standing area … so you may get many messages !

Thanks georgeking we will give it a blinkin good shot ! that pub the pandy inn is miles from us though, its nr hay on wye so rob roy will need a horse if he wants to visit it from cafe looks good pub though from the link you gave .
