does anyone know who he was driving for ?
I think it was the Argos driver.
Rip drive
RIP driver condolences to family,
How terribly awful. I think we all have at the back of our minds that we could die in an RTA because the brakes fail, or we make an error of judgment at speed, but who could possibly anticipate something like this?
Sad but true to all drivers out there stay safe

FFSā¦What a ridiculous way to meet your end. Poor bloke.
I could not have put it any better! Well saidā¦
RIP Driver and condolences to anybody who knew him.
RIP Driver.

Iām assuming the driver had keys and was responsible for opening and closing the barrier. Sad news.
You assume wrong.
The store staff have the key and are responsible for opening and closing the barrier before and after delivery.
R.I.P. Billy Barker who was one of the old school and a true gentleman.

the mind boggles at this one as no one could of seen this sort of thing happening it just seems so incredible

It that case I apologise. It there some sort of latch the bar is supposed to be located in or locked in place when itās open? I couldnāt see one on the wall but none of the pictures show the area that clearly.
Very sad news, thoughts with his family.
Hiya rest in peace drive its very sad news. condolences to his familyā¦
i saw the very. sorry herd a bang then looked to see a delivery lorry with a height barrier
through his screen and into the bunk(very lucky driver) the 4 inch channel had moved round
so the driver was looking onto the end of the barrier(he never saw it) crash straight through
his screen. that was at Morrisons old shop in Saltney about 12 years ago. guess why the barrier
was thereā¦them in the caravans making a mess everywhere

What a shocking event, for someone to die in such a freak accident, obviously with him being a driver its closer to home for most who read these forums.
RIP, to the Driver, and condolences to his family friends and work colleagues.

On a similar vein, a driver were I worked some years ago drove into the height barrier at gate 2 port Felixstowe on the way in, It was dark winter morning, and as he approached the gate a lorry was stopped at the security cabin, so he moved to the left not seeing the normal height barrier(assumed it was open) and hit strainght into it. As it turned out the day before they had been preparing it for a repaint, had rubbed it down to a dull colour and taken the plastic that would usualy hang from it, also the barrier just happend to be at the same height as the join in the screen visor(scania). this was side on so no worry about it entering the vehicle, but it just shows how easy this sort off thing can happen.
Deepest sympathy to the family of this poor man
.
I wonder if the pole in this pic was āpropped upā against the wall nearest, and just toppled down right across the cab roof?
