had the missfortune of having to drive a rental this week after my engine decided to let go after only 7 months of being fitted!!!
i could not believe the state of the 11 plate scania 440 they sent me. how the hell someone managed to get 5th wheel grease on the head lining beats me!!!
after waiting all day for it turned up at 10 at night after being driven from purfleet to whiltshire as i need one that could operate a walking floor, and thats were my trouble started!!!
firstly they send me a standard r cab(i normally drive a top liner) and i am 6 foot tall so getting ready for bed a real pain in the ■■■!!
the night heater doesn’t work, and the cab smells like a tom cat has got locked in and sprayed all over it!!!
then to top it off it won’t operate a walking floor as its just a tipper system.
so i settle down for an uncomfortable night and wait to sort it with scania in the morning.
in the morning an ex stobart hi line is found and after some small problems alls fine and the truck does what i require!!!
now is it me but why if something isn’t yours driver just have to abuse it, the 11 plate was a complete dog but the 10 plate was very well looked after inside, i just can’t understand why people can’t treat vehicles they are given to drive with a little bit of repect so that the next driver that has to use it doesn’t have to put up with the ■■■■ state you leave it in, there we go rant over
Cut off finger and toe nail clippings, dandruff, hairs of humans and animals, body fluids, rain soaked in to the upholstery of the cab then bacteria takes over.
Old sandwhiches, sweet wrappers, ten year old mags and papers under the seat.

wrecks an engine. then moans about a dirty wagon. youve got a cheek…
only joking yer.
grease on headlining is no good. i always store excess grease on the door handles.
i know you were tony, really ■■■■■■ off with scania GB at the moment, trucks been sat in their yard for a week waiting for the company that supplied engine as it was a recon to collect it and fit a new one, and that has to be done in ipswich as they can do it cheaper than scania can !!! but hey only got to wait till the end of this month and i get my new stralis
Don’t take a job driving a fleet truck then, chicken bones in the door pocket, bits of fingernail spat around the cab the contents of someones nose on the windscreen the complete inability to go from point A to B without damaging it.
I found one of those teeth flossing things last night, you won’t believe how bad a 60 plate motor could stink.

It’s not just hire vehicles but any fleet vehicles, some people just have no respect for others property, especially if it’s owned by a company.
I work for a Rental firm and have to clean the trucks when they come back.
Nobody gives a toss about them, inside or out.
Maybe I should start a thread and take pics of them with a name and shame of the companies that had them
