Renault T range. Is it the most ugly truck in a long time

Let’s be fair though, if it drives nice, is reliable & 10k cheaper than the fancy dan’s then I’d rock around in one no probs.

Rhythm Thief:
The great thing about the Magnum was that it was actually an innovative piece of design, which adressed a lot of the problems associated with conventional truck design. These new things, as well as looking like they’re made of Lego, are just conventional trucks, no more or less. I find that disappointing; I’d have preferred them to take the best bits of the old Magnum and build on them.

I agree. Always thought it looked a bit odd until I found out WHY they were like that and then you start to notice their drivers climbing out in tight spaces with a lot more grace than us lot who look like we’re practicing our Ballet.

Open the door a bit as if in a tight gap and climb out of your truck, then imagine going out with the steps BEHIND the door and how much easier it is.

I was told they were made for the Eurotunnel so their drivers could get in and out.

Not just that … that enormous windscreen does away with a lot of the forward blind spot. Once you’ve driven a Magnum, it’s very hard to go back to a normal truck: it feels like you’re peering out of a postbox by comparison. The steps behind the cab doors are brilliant too, like you say.

I’ve seen this one in the flesh already & it looks OK…

I drive a lot in France & have spotted quite a few in company colours… Better than the demo colour…

We have one in the yard on demo. Ive not driven it but I have had a look inside. If it drives well and is reliable id be happy to have one. Only thing I don’t like is the a4 size plaques on the cab sides. They look tacky.

Got a 62 plate Magnum, which will be going in September (gutted) I would have to say it is probably the best truck i’ve had over the years, the ride quality is second to non and the volvo drive line is spot on compared to the MANs and DAFs we have, dont fancy having either of them as a replacement.
We have the renault demo coming tomorrow for 2 weeks and I have been volunteered to see what its like, if it is as good as the magnum to drive I would have one, how a truck looks certainly doesnt bother me (cant see it when your diving it) I didnt like the look of the magnums when they first came out, i;m gonna miss mine when it goes, a mate had one and tried to get me to drive it back to Leeds from Reigate, I declined, was in a newish V8 Scania at the time.
So, if any one is intersted I am prepared to give a non biased review of this truck over the next couple of weeks, they are supposed to be fitted with alot of the optional extras like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning system, just hope it has the 520 motor in it, dont wanna be stuck in amongst you mere mortals with your 440/460 motors.

What engine has it got in?

I think it looks good in the fleshonly thing lets them down is that awful brown that the demo trucks have been painted

I think these two new 'uns for Marstons look well…

I think I’m a convert now - at least they look a bit different

Seen these floating around Burton upon Trent they look smart In Marston’s colours ! And personally I don’t think it’s not that ugly looks very Volvo like and as long as it drives as well as the premium and the magnum it should be a good truck .

Thought the idea was to drive it not kiss it!
Caramba!

It says 460 comfort on that pound shop plaque on the side

Two of these added to our fleet today - admittedly not the prettiest of trucks, but a great improvement over the premium, it seems

they drive better than the premium.

renault trucks uk’s facebook pic of the marstons T range

got to admit i’m not sure of the point of the plate on the side but its not removable

Yeah, I thought that plate on the side was just for the show trucks at the motor shows to show model number. Looks ridiculous out on the road.

You can sit in the one they have inside at Renault Nuneaton, seems alright & they are keen on price.

Looks decent in black too. Should have been the launch colour!

First few days and it seems they are doing average of 9.36 mpg, fully loaded most of the time.

I don’t care what they look like now!

Saw the Marstons one out on the road on the m6 the other day & it does look very well in black.

Had a go in one last night 460 comfort very nice drive very little roll cab seems well put together
Bunk seems a little on the small side can see volvo influence all over it seems like a big step forward for renault think they will seell lots if price is right.
