Renault T range. Is it the most ugly truck in a long time

i like it now,its grown on me but i dont know what their like to drive.

Like any other cab style the paint job or should that be WRAP makes or brakes them you only have to see two parked together one in repossession white and the other in a smart paint job and there is no comparison no matter what make. Eddie.

yeah, theyre both fugly.

I did this week take time out in France to inspect Mr T, Renaults top of the range 520 and did manage to take a few pics in a different format,B&W and dare I say the truck NOW looks
greatly improved.Trust they will be on the Biglorryblog this weekend when Rikki gets back from his hols, enjoy. And I will add ,that stupid plate on the side…Will Go!.

Just been reading Commercial Motor dated 30/1/14 and on page 4 is a picture of Matthew Kibble’s new Renault T and it looks a very nice motor in his colours on the next page is Meachers new Volvo and although it also looks smart the Renault is a better looking motor especially above the screen and the grill. Eddie.

Our firm have one out on demo for 2weeks and sat in it the other day, seems to be well finished with plenty of toys.
The side locker panel when opened is good to stand under if your having a barbeque in the rain :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :grimacing:
Inside would remind me of a FM Globbey.

“Kit” from “Knightrider” when you lock her with remote ref the front LED lights,
reminds me big time of “Predator” the alien in the Arnie Swarzt film of the same name :exclamation: :exclamation:

Talking to a mike beer driver on hull-zeebrugge boat 2 weeks ago he’d only had it 3 weeks and hates it not a good word to say about it apart from its new

A little insight into the Renault T RHD version
The “Comfort” trim comes in two levels…Comfort Drive, and Comfort Live. The Drive being the more basic of the two,
Drive will have a seat with about as much adjustment as a church pew… No heating, no lumbar support and no slide adjustment on the squab. The passenger seat is not on air…
The USB and Aux plugs are above your head, to the right… but with nowhere to put a gadget. So if you want to use either on the move, you’ll need a fairly long lead 
The bluetooth radio will work with phone calls, but to play music through it from a phone for instance, you’ll need the software in the head updating….
The windcreen sunblind is a waste of space… 4” Narrower than the screen, and about half as long as it needs to be…  There is a piece of plastic that drops down which partially fills the gap, but I am fairly sure that’s not its primary purpose.
Interior lockers… hold less than the Premium. This is due to them being sloped, and not as deep as the Premium.
Good sized exterior lockers
The models up to and including the 460, have a 3 stage exhaust brake…about as useful as that of the Premium, unless you use one of the 3 fuel saver modes, in which case it performs a little better.
The models above the 460 have varying degrees of retarder which are considerably more effective than the exhaust brake.
The truck itself is a harder heavier drive than the Premium, and not as quick on the uptake either….
All in all it’s not a bad truck… the extra interior space is obviously a bonus, but as usual the whole project gives very little consideration to the driver at base level.

Sorry to have hijacked the thread… feel free to delete………

Kate why don’t you forward your opinion to Gino.Costa@Renault-Trucks.com he is the MD of Renault UK did respond when I informed him his dealerships sucked.

Kate drove a pre production model so I’m sure the big cheese already knows her opinion.

I like the look if it now & I bet it’s keenly priced too. The plate on the side is not removable unless you want to filler the 2 holes, looks like it came out of a cereal box.

The outer lockers are great & blow the premium’s away. Most newer motors are slow on the throttle to try & save fuel.

I’d have one, no probs & may well do if I get fed up maintaining this prem.

In my opinion the dealerships are pretty decent, I have experience of Nuneaton & Cardiff where all the staff have been friendly, helpful & professional. You pay for it mind but at least the jobs are done right.

just you wait Silver Surfer the Big One will be along shortly, crawled over it this week and it impressed and you should see it on the BLB as soon as Ricki decides to come back to work.helluva rig
which has to make it’s way into right hand drive.

Havin driven one I think one of the best Lorries out there at the mo
But hay each to there own

Thanks for the thought… They weren’t interested in driver opinion pre-production, so they sure won’t be interested now

Really? I thought we weren’t deemed worthy…

That does surprise me.

You’d have thought they would still be open to driver input for minor tweaks & changes at that stage but I suppose it’s too late to change things by the time on road trials in the real world start.

Driver acceptance is an important factor in purchasing decisions.

50 customers Europe wide were involved in the project right from the initial design stage up to production vehicles.

Steve

Well if 50 customers thought sticking ‘Comic Relief Red Ears’ each side of the cab was a good idea then I have questionable doubts about the product, despite being impressed with the Big T.

perhaps they were more interested in things that really count ,as opposed to a couple of badges that could be removed if they really bothered you that much

I have two T Ranges. Better than a Premium, but DAF XF they ain’t.

Those badges don’t come off easy as they are bolted through the cab - ridiculous!

I’ve had to totally downsize my livery as a result of the stupid things - I am told that they are a ‘delete option’ so you can have the truck delivered without them - if only I had been told

K

Found this collection, the T looks better with different paint job, maybe we will
get the big one eventually, still prefer the Magnum, but I am a die hard Magnum fan.

T looks like a beefed up Premium.
