Oh and I drive a DAF CF and have no problem over taking lots of trucks on the A14.

Don’t muck about, who is ‘yourselves’? You know it was ScaniaV8 who was waffling on about Dafs, tell him. I would if i drove a DAF !!
Have it on very good authority that the Police are actively looking for 30 artic units and 70 trailers belonging to Reids which are believed to be stolen
Anybody see a pile of them abandoned in some truckstop somewhere

Why would you want to know that?
If all that lot have gone missing then they’re obviously being held by the drivers and/or subbies because they are owed money. Good on them I say.

Well if a subbie/driver wants to add a criminal record onto the fact that they are owed money by Reids as well its up to them,
(What about the load in the trailers if any, have you thought about that)
sounds a bit stupid to me though, but each to his own
Considering you’re (supposedly) an owner driver, you seem to have a poor grasp of how business works.
Anyone will a grain of sense knows that when a company folds the staff and subbies are the last in line to get what’s owed, if there’s even any money left in the pot (which is rare). If you seriously think that handing the company their trailer (and contents) back to them will see you the money that you’re owed then you’d be more stupid than I first gave you credit for.
So you think its a good idea to be prosecuted for theft (because that’s what it is) for “holding onto” approx £80k worth of goods (not including any load therein) because you are owed a couple of weeks wages is a good idea
(I’ll give you that the Subbies are owed ALOT more, but thats the risk you take in running your own business, won’t be the first won’t be the last.)
When plod stops these guy’s driving up/down the M6 in a Reids truck/trailer and they are arrested for TADA because of a national alert on the “theft” of Reids equipment I’m sure the drivers/subbies will be pleased that they listened to your “wise” advice when they are sitting in the clink
i would hazard a guess and say that those particular reids units and trailers won’t be in the UK and will never come into the UK with the same plates and livery again.
im sure some of you will be aware of the irish operator who i will not name, refused to give the polish drivers the same money as the irish drivers when they realised they were being shafted, said polish drivers went out with their loads, and drivers nor trucks nor trailers havent been seen since.

IIRC in situations like this i don’t think it is classed as theft,
I think (and I could be wrong) that this comes into the law as holding goods in lieu of payment.
In a way I don’t really blame them no one likes working for nothing.
The only way they will get caught is if they are doing 1mph over the speed limit.
Am actually agreeing with something Paul says. Whatever next
If the company (which it has) has gone into insolvency, there are guidelines which must be followed by creditors (the subbies etc) Its in their own interest to return all assets to the administrating company (Price waterhouse cooper), who can then auction all assets and compile a “company value” and then begin to settle the debitors debts.
I know it won’t be easy for them to return their “security”, but unless they do there will be no money for anyone.
I beleive the employees have had their wages paid, so it looks like the “wind down” process had been started and the admistrator is starting to settle the debts.
The subbies can take legal action against Reids, but its a longwinded and costly process. Any subbies owed money would be best contacting the Inslovency Service for advice.

If the trailers are loaded and the carrier is owed money then the carrier is within his rights to withhold the delivery of that load until payment. Correct me if I am wrong ? And you cannot blame them

who was that then ? PM me if you wish and dont wish to name
I thought all the Reids trucks were subbies anyhow ?

Ive been down that route and so has my brother, ended up with nowt, I know now which route I would take if it happened again.
If they are owed money, then they will not get it all if they get anything at all for the work done, for example they may be offered 50 pence for every £1 owed
The Subbies should by pass Reids altogether and try and go to the supplier/manufacturer or whoever is going to pay Reids for the delivery and get the money off them direct. At least they will get full payment!!!
Lining other peoples pockets is not in my vocabulary…You tend to find you are the one of who comes off the worst
any word on where Shaun and Liam Reid ran of to?..cowards

Surely the ferry/train operators couldn’t be that stupid that they would let units+trailers and loads onto a boat without first being booked ahead from the office and an account number being given for that particular firm which in all essence was probably cancelled because of the bankrupcy
All 30 units and 70 trailers can’t all have got to Poland have they![]()

has everyone disappeared? Do the Units and trailers belong to Reids ? Or a Finance Company ?
May have all been repossessed ? or getting resprayed…■■

If a lot of them are subbies they probably have or can use someones account so it is not impossible or implausable
