Reid Transport Close The Gates!

he may just have to go back to Poland…my heart bleeds

Why have they interviewed an overseas worker ?

routier:
I think we r gettin off the subject,

Reids have gone bust, Subbies and Staff r owed thousands now, Sleep well now Liam Reid.Sure you wont lose your house now so.

Woodside did have an involvment in rallying but it was about 6 years ago. Robert Woodside used to compete in Irish and UK rallying. Gave up though.

Scaniav8…it annoys me when people don’t read what’s written but I’ll try again

Don’t you come it that only Irish run bent…

Show me where I said that??

The point of my post was your attitude i.e who cares about running bent , …

Ive been driving trucks for around 25 yrs now , including a 3 yr stint for a big N.I haulier so i think i know a little.
You however don’t seem to drive for a living but wont have a bad word said about any Irish haulier, links on your profile and sig etc etc. All well and good my friend but I suggest you take those rose tinted glasses off

Ohh for the record - you were wondering if I drive a lorry…like all forums - you never know who the person is

I reckon your a 26 yr old lad who works in the parts dept of a local truck dealers but i’m happy to be corrected

think the facts presented above might silence a few loose mouths

Have a nice day

Good. That’s about 100 bent-runners off the roads then.

Ex 4th… generation Miner here…got the scars to prove it both physical and mental…lost a mate on the picket lines …No stranger to redundancy and the effects that has on communities and Familes.

I hope the Reids guys get something before Xmas

Paul your a PRAT … :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

coder…fair play to you for that comment like many on here - got sidetracked…

You had guys knowing it all driving for 25 yrs and driving for Northern Irish outfits but strange to notice that they no longer do…hmmm I wonder if their mouths had anything to do with the fact they no longer do…

For your records ‘Inspector Morse’ above - I’am on with for a sub-contractor into an Irish Haulier - so less your detective work and concentrate on keeping your little MAN or DAF CF on the road won’t you…before you get past AGAIN whilst your jammed on your limiter…

Have fun! (aye right in a CF lol)

Didnt realise haulage was stil that lucrative to be sponsoring sporting events

Must be if Stobbies can do it.

Shame they didn’t sponsor me when I was rallying.

Ken.

What an idiot!

its by the by how they operated, my heart goes out to the employees for the predicament they have been dropped into. i belive reids had a few depots in, england so lets just think about all the people, both england and ireland who have been left without work or a wage this close to christmas eh?

Funny isn’t it. Everyone on here moans about how all the Poles should ■■■■ off back to Poland but yet when 100 of them are suddenly jobless it’s “awww, poor Poles, my heart goes out to them” etc. Never heard such a bunch of two-faced hypocrites.

■■?

Ive seen a lot of them in truck stops and other places and spoke with a few as well while having a coffee, ive never seen a Reids polish driver, not saying there wasnt any. But majority of Reids drivers i saw were Irish or English even.

The Polish guy on the news no doubt prob worked in the warehouse.

Montgomery appear in the Times richest list,

Harold Montgomery,
a gentleman if ever there was one wouldn’t pass you bye in the yard without stopping for a chat even a casual driver like me.

obviously my sarcasm didnt work!!!

Meant to say I mean my heart goes out to those Poles interviewed by the BBC N Ireland, got no money to feed his family, but I ve no sympathy for all those subbies who have lost tens of thousands of Pounds/Euros and face forever debt and fianancial ruin, I mean theres just no comparison is there :frowning:

Just to explain to you

They (SUBBIES) r the guys who kept the Poles in a job!!! How dare the BBC interview an overseas worker in an Irish village and broadcast his plight !!

What about the people who descend from there ? WHAT ABOUT THE THOUSANDS OWED TO THE SUBBYS ?

NO it doesnt matter!!

what matters is the fact the the overseas worker is jobless and owed a couple of bucks.

Now do you understand my comment ?

Mr Hoggard, without wanting you to end up with egg on ya chin and slatin u, please do ur homework and read the thread properly before tallking crap and having a dig

As someone who is about to enter the industry and is a total neutral looking at this from the outside I think youre all missing the point - Another haulier(good or bad) has gone to the wall and 200+ people(colour/creed regardless) have been put out of work 4 weeks before christmas.Instead of bickering about whether their speed limiters are correct or how bad a driver you are if youre not from a specific race we should be giving these people our support and wishing them well for the future.

Rant over

I think you will find this story isn’t over by a long shot :exclamation: :exclamation:
“Rumour mill” has it that there has been alot of big time “funny goings on” over the past year or two on the accounts side, the local PSNI have been getting quite a few written complaints from former employee’s in the know :exclamation: :exclamation:

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7110695.stm

“Employment Minister Sir Reg Empey has asked police to investigate employment and workplace practices at Reid Transport”.

“The under 18s will not be getting redundancy, less than two years service will not be getting redundancy and the foreign nationals who have no national insurance number will not be getting redundancy.”

Can you employ people without NI numbers? They can’t have been paying NI then…

TC

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7112154.stm

How many 14 year old drivers did they have then? :stuck_out_tongue:

how ‘dare’ they interveiw foreign drivers
its not brave sticking a mike in front of someone
maybe they were the only articulate ones there

Wonder what will happen to the work.

Saw a fair few RoI units on the northern M6 last night, never usually see that many.
