Recommend good sta navs for EU

Any good decent tom toms etc .I want a truckers one but 400 quid is a we bit over the budget .
Best prices and quality for truck driving Europe .

Why a Tom Tom? I’ve got a Garmin Nuvi 250 and ok it’s a few years old now but have upgraded it once and used it quite a few times in Europe and its been faultless hence that’s why I’m not buying a new one soon.
So have a good look at what Garmin has to offer.

I use a TT Go 730 Europe, although not configured for a truck, but you can get the Truck map for Western and Central Europe on an SD card for this model which is around £160.00.

For alternatives try E Bay.

I don’t know if anyone else is using any of the cheaper satnav’s but one of our Van Drivers uses an economy model which he picked on E Bay for £40.00 and he finds it just as good as a TT or Garmin. I would not get a Binatone Europe satnav as they are about as fast as a striking slug.

Dunno about that…Does 42 countries straight out the box.

I am using navigon, very good quality for money and I saw there is some truck update for it, but I never used it.

I’m surprised animal hasn’t been on yet :open_mouth:

We have Tom Tom work in our trucks all linked back to the office, it has never sent me somewhere it shouldn’t, if anything it’s a bit over cautious when delivering in a city with no transit roads, it classes it as a truck ban road and routes you round.

I used a tom tom euro truck and snooper both bout the same but got the bonus of a tv with the snooper and yes it does work over there lol

In theory it covers 99% of Polish roads… But actually the mapa is crap, routing is poor and there is many errors. I used one of them in the past, obviously the manufacturers don’t bother too much with Eastern Europe. Now I have Navigon and coverage is much much better - propably because it’s a German company and for them Poland is just across the river…

Yeah, it’s OK, but it’s not the best for Eastern Europe.

For Eastern Europe Automapa seems the best choice, but if you drive mostly in Western, there would be no point for you to buying one. For visit in East from time to time Tom Tom is good enough.

If you have an iPhone or android phone you could downloading copilot truck maps are stored on board

I’ll probably get shot down for this statement. But whats wrong with a map :open_mouth:

If I had to carry city maps to every town I might be sent, I will need another van to follow me

I now use Google Maps on my phone, for the last few kms and old fashioned paper maps for the first few hundred. I’m with Vodaphone on contract and pay £40 a month for lots of free inclusives, including 25Mb data a day. So far I haven’t had to pay anything extra for using over my free data allowance (or anything else).

Nothing wrong with a map if you got the space to store them all lol I prefer stan nav as most will tell you of any hold ups ahead and give a fairly good time of ETA
