Never seen these about before but today I’ve seen 3, oldish lookin green day cab units, seen 2 with tautliners and one with a mcburney fridge on, googled it and it says there a cement company, anyone know why there units would be pulling different trailers? They looked more like shunt units !
Quinn group is a big outfit they have a glass making plant as well and are into insurance as well, Switchlogic could fill you in better on them. Eddie.

The place nr Chester services is called Elton, i sometimes take recycled glass up there from Southampton. I think they are an Irish firm

Very big company. Elton is one of the biggest bottle manufacturing and bottling plants in Europe. The also have in addition to Quinn Glass, Quinn Therm, Quinn Radiators, Quinn Rooftiles, and some other including blocks and bricks. Insurance was sold off and I reckon bits of it will be sold off bit by bit now. Quinn Glass is being renamed Cobevco. Sean Quinn was Irelands richest man before the crash but lost everything betting on bank shares and is currently serving a short sentence in prison for trying to hide assets. I do believe some of the Quinn units are owner drivers but not 100% on that.

Well I new they were a fairly large operation but seeing the website I did’nt realise they were that big I see them quite often on the A76 I think they go into a bottling plant in ■■■■■■■■ Eddie.
quinn radiators are based in the old L G site in newport,huge operation.
Ah I see now, that’s why I kept seeing them on the m56 this afternoon
I load at the Elton site 2/3 times per week, they send out empty bottles and loads they have bottled for various customers they have!
Have seen said units and they also run Merc hacksaws, all same colour and with either feldbinder cement tanks, tippers or white taught liners!
i was part of the construction team that built the newish Quinn Glass plant out the back of Helsby. mega huge site delivering globally. exceedingly good rates if you can get in there. stobrats do some stuff for them in NI cos that stobrats truckie on tv got lost going to their big NI bottling plant
they ship the coloured glass in from ireland(i think),they take the guinness bottles into preston brook.

Sean Quinn was the largest UK Bankruptcy ever at the time.
He made himself bankrupt at the Belfast Court for just over £2 Billion.
However the money was owed to Irish banks which are now owned by the Irish Government.
UK bankruptcy is much more lenient and as no UK banks are involved he will be discharged after 12 months and his pension fund untouched.
Under Irish law he would be bankrupt for up to 12 years and his pension seized.

Sent assets to Russia to try hide them and won’t say where and was locked up for contempt of court but is out now. He’s been labeled as the cause of Ireland’s financial troubles by the media and government but personally I think he’s being used as a scape goat to divert attention from banks/government involvement. He only did what business men do and took a risk, unfortunately it didn’t work out this time. Alot of people of county Cavan where he’s is from and from where he employed half the county are of the same opinion and regularly hold protests etc. but things are starting to get a bit nasty now.
