Putting stickers over the in cab cameras

Sploom:
No,Ive been on the barefoot pinot tonight.
We only do the communion wine about once a month or 6 weeks.
But only about the equivilent of an eggcup.
On the keyboard this week with the worship team
Youre always welcome to come and see what we do,if you are ever down this way…

I’ll get back to you on it, but I’m sure I’m washing my hair on that day.
Don’t know which day you mean btw, but trust me I’ll have something on.

Only ever drove one lorry with a driver facing camera.
In my defence…I didn’t know they were fitted, until my first day on the job.
Just twisted it down,so it was pointing at the dashboard.
Nowt was said, until approx 3 months later, when some goon phoned up to tell me my"fleet score was down"
Told him Friday would be my last day.

If driver facing cameras are so great why aren’t they fitted to other types of vehicles.

We never hear of public service unions clamouring for them to be fitted to police, fire and ambulance vehicles.

How about taxis? Or fast food delivery vehicles? Or parcel delivery vehicles?

Only seems to be trucks and buses though.

It wouldnt surprise me if those vehicles do have them fitted.I didnt like the cameras ,but learned to live with it now. They cant view the footage unless there is an incident.
I remember a couple of years ago,the England football team coach overtook me on the M1.
I asked the manager for the camera footage, half jokingly, and he told me they arent allowed to view it unless an incident occured, out facing cameras, that was.

the maoster:

If you are doing nothing wrong ie smoking on the phone shouting abuse
what’s the problem

Absolutely! You should go a step further I suggest and have cameras placed in every room in your house and pay a company to monitor them on the chance that a violent house break in occurs.

After all, if you’re doing nothing wrong where’s the problem?

Rules apply when it suits, surely you’ve been around long enough to know this.
I’ve seen with mine own eyes the exact opposite of what you’ve been told there various times, i heard all the same arguments as you have the camera sales bods must supply laminated sheets of the pro point bullshine which they learn by rote.

As i’ve said here from the start about this surveillance lark, they can fit unlimited number of cameras around the outside and spend all day glued to the monitor watching on live feed, fill yer boots people employ an assistant or two to help you in your non job :unamused: , similarly they can view the various depots CCTV to their hearts content till they have square eyes, but they will never watch me on a driver facing camera because i won’t be driving or a passenger in a truck so fitted, not because i have anything to hide but because it’s one of my lines in the sand that will not be crossed, ever.

The rules like “can only be viewed when an incident has occurred” are totally open to different interpretations, what counts as an incident? Similar but not the same, I drove for a mickey mouse firm that had dash cams with voice recording. Top and bottom was the boss and his lemmings were able to hear everything, though not in real time.

An incident arose were a driver was hauled in to the office because he had been slagging the company off whilst in his cab, slagging them off rightly because of law breaking by the boss, all recorded without the drivers knowledge.

As I had grievances with the company, this was the straw that broke the camels back. I jacked along with the other driver.

An email to what was VOSA for multiple blatant law breaking by the company was sent, I too had been recorded throughout my employment without my knowledge. Company liquidated not long after, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Why?

Sploom:
Robroy, you can be falsly accused. You could be accused of using your mobile phone. If there were 2 witnesses, that would be enough to stand up in a court if law,as I understand it.If I was accused of using a mobile phone behind the wheel,I would immediatly call for the dashcam footage
Would you do the same?

Assuming it had progressed to court a criminal investigation must have been started therefore I’d expect my mobile to have been analysed for signs of use at such time as the offence was supposed to have happened.

It was just Sploom trying to convert me again mate :unamused: …it’s what he does  ,
This time into believing all the crap he had been fed, believed,.and swallowed about these things.

I think he was wanting me to say
…'Alleyluya I’ve seen the light,.cameras are the way forward for me to avoid prosecution after some nosey 2hat tries to set me up,.and pin something on me ‘’.

I think he was under the impression that such stuff actually bothered me (as it apparentlly would him,) …and that I actually gave a ■■■■.

.

Sploom:
I find it hard to believe,it bothers you when I try to evangelise you,but it doesnt bother you if someone tries to drop you in it!

Aye, but if someone tries to drop you in it, there has to be evidence before it can be acted on.
2 people saying, “I saw him on his phone”, might be enough to start a legal case. But his phone records would be looked at, and case dismissed before it got to a court case, if the allegation proved false. Your phone records details of what you do on it, whether that’s phone calls, Google maps, faceache, whatever. Dates, times, what app, etc. If it’s like Google Maps as an untouched sat nav, or if you’re making changes to the route, etc, it records that too. So, “I saw him on his phone” could be him making those adjustments to his route. As it’s all recorded on his phone, there would be evidence to prove, or disprove, the allegation.

I wouldn’t work for a company with driver watching cameras. Or as the Yanks say - Period.
They either trust me to do the job, 30 years experience means I can, or they don’t. If they won’t trust me, I’m not going to work for them.
Cover up the camera? Nope. Camera seen, I’m out.
Not that this is likely to be a problem. I’ve got a couple of years to go before I retire, with no intention to carry on working after. My present employer has external cameras on 2 wagons, for the London rules. No other cameras on any other wagons in our small fleet. A couple of our drivers have their own dash cams.

Do you now…do I care?
Take a guess.
But since you asked,… let me explain.

Your first point.

Religious head cases like yourself have been the bane of my life since I was a kid, in fact you/they get right up my arse, trying to force your/their ridiculous beliefs on me.
If you/they want to believe in fairies…crack on, just leave me out of it eh?

Ok your second point…

As well as religious nutters I also hate people who grass you up, if/when I find out they have done it to me, I want to burn them to death. :imp:

At least 3 times in my life that I remember, I have took action on this, but stopped short of the matches.

So, my point is, rather than run to teacher/boss/law,.I prefer to deal with it myself, so basically what they say about me, especially if it is untrue like in your scenario, I don’t care and it does not bother me enough to involve anybody else.

Hope that clarifies your query about me.
Cheers for asking.

if its a perspex lens a wipe with cellulose thinner will mean itll never see clearly again

Robroy,I did try and delete what I wrote but it resurfaced somehow but anyway,I see what has happened now.If you had bad experiences with religous people and then, when you see my posts ,you imagine that Im the same, but I dont think I am,probably.

Robroy,

Well you certainly gave me that impression in previous conversations on other threads, and I can’t help biting back if I feel I’m being targeted .

But ok, fair enough anyway.

But,about the grassing,I think it depends on the situation. For example,if you smell alcohol on another driver, you dont want to be the one to report him.He might only be a little bit over the limit. Its a dilema .Or if its a school bully,we dont all have big brothers,or we arent all big enough to deal with the bullies directly, all you can do then is go to the teacher
