A valid point, but what does the op have to prove by giving me free training, nothing. He has made me a genuine and generous offer and im happy to accept. I would also be delighted to see another trainer on here make a similar offer to another newbie. you never know chrismas might come early for someone else.

On another note the origanl post doesn’t ask for a good review, i havent been asked to write a good review, All that has been asked was in the o/p A diary of the training experience so that is what i will do. If the experience and training were no good, i would be writing it in here, if it is good it will also be writen on here. So far the experience i have had was a phone call from someone in his office and an email of confirmation of everything that is included in this free training offer which is quite a lot and if totalled up comes to a few grand. I cant beleive how lucky i am, a bit of good fortune was well overdue.

Those are all very fair points mate, and I’d like to thank you for providing the extra info that was so clearly missing from the earlier posts.
However, if you read the OP, there IS a detectable shift in John’s stance that several other posters have also noticed.
In order to give John a fair chance to clarify what he’s saying, I said that there is an apparent unfairness.
The issue of apparent unfairness is that (at first sight from initial info) you didn’t seem to meet the criteria that John set out in the OP.
Now if John had indicated that he’d changed his stance a little (no harm in that at all) and let everybody know in a post, things may have turned out differently, because there are several other people who would have expressed an interest and possibly been in the reckoning for the free course.
The apparent unfairness stems from the fact that those other people read the OP correctly and genuinely thought that they didn’t fit the criteria and therefore didn’t waste John’s time by expressing an interest. I hope that you can understand that these people might be entitled to feel a little miffed now that it seems that they might have been in with a chance of being considered for John’s generous offer.
Although you’ve ‘won the prize’ fair and square from your point of view, can you understand how those other people might feel?
Now that John has given you this free course, I’d like to wish you good luck with your efforts at gaining your LGV licence and I’ll look forward to reading your training diary.

As I mentioned, there’s no problem in a person mentioning that they’ve sent/received a PM.
You didn’t mention the contents of a PM, so that’s you sorted and you’ve nothing to apologise for.
However, it appears that the contents of a PM were made public and were dealt with by a member of the Mod Team, but we’re not allowed to discuss anything about that.

That’s fair enough mate, but I’d advise you that the forum rules you’ve already electronically agreed to don’t see things in that way.
Rule 8 PM’s and E-Mails sent through this site are subject to the same rules as everything else. We don’t however have access to them so if you have concerns we will not know until you contact an Admin. If you abuse the Messaging systems, we will suspend your right to use them. PM’s and Emails are private between users and must remain so.
The part that I’ve made red is the key to understanding this rule.

Woohooo its me, i cant believe it. I also cant believe more people didnt pm him and apply for this amazing gift, i think only 2 of us actually replied to him so my chances were pretty good. Excuse me for interfering, but this is really bugging me. you say Rubberducky won your free training course? (which i thought was a very genuine offer) Untill after reading this post i went onto another post, only to see rubberducky posting he had failed his test? it says he trained with JCoates in Birmingham.? So what is bugging me is…(A) either you have opened another account on trucknet called rubberducky,so you didnt have to give away a free course or (B) You Didnt give rubberducky the free course as you said?
Obviously i appreciate it is an old post, but as i have read it, i thought i would raise the question?

I believe animal is pointing out that she is not a trainer, but she did mention the fact highlighted in blue. that is that the goal posts had suddenly become wider.
no one is having a go at you myself and everyone here are very pleased for you to be offered this training and I wish you all the luck and hope your training diary will of course have those wonderful fireworks that you pass I think people are a bit miffed that they could have been considered but did not meet the critieria I myself would have pm`d but already have c so would love to have taken an artic course so please dont think that anyone is having a go at you we all wish you all the best and hope you pass

When will the training begin, will you be having any training before your retest on the 17th February ?
I will just have an hour warm up drive before my test, then i need to let Flair training know the outcome of the result and they will take over my training form there. Im not looking forward to my 2nd test it feels like i have forgoten everything and getting rustier by the day. 9 days to go and im already feeling the nerves.

Please don’t feel the nerves mate, cos I really don’t think you need to…
You have a re-test, but you have the re-test ‘fail’ option already covered, which is pretty much unique because that normally wouldn’t be the case.
So what if you fail the re-test? The outcome is that John will sort you out.

John’s reasons for doing this are obviously in an attempt to shake his questionable past but frankly I fail to see how a solitary diary from a noob (both to trucking and this site) will change that. Is this upcoming (probably) glowing diary supposed to magically prove to us all that he is a changed man and can now be trusted? Somehow I don’t see this happening at all and people will continue to cast a suspicious eye.
