Probably a stupid question

Wife has been on at me about getting something checked but I have been putting it off as just stress, so just out of curiosity I would like your feedback on this little issue.

For the past 6 months I have noticed my right hand starts to shake when at rest or normal driving conditions, when I’m busy I don’t rely notice it, its not bothering me as I don’t get pain in my arm or hand, it now and again feels a little stiff (My hand that is) could it be a spot of arthritis? it doesn’t effect my driving.

any of you had this issue?

Not a stupid question, get it checked for peace of mind.
My driver has Parkinson’s but the doctor allowed him to drive lorries .
Beware of the Dvla, once they take a licence away they can not be contacted by phone or email and are a law on themselves.
Once they decide thats it.

Only when I am watching naughty videos :open_mouth: :unamused:

But seriously, it’s worth a word with the doc, probably just a nervous twitch

I’m not a doctor…

Not sure how many doctors there are on here, I suspect very few.

Ask your pharmacist, that might give a clue as to what it is.

Your age, diet, smoking, stressful job and lifestyle all play a part.

Not had it but get it checked out asap, Parkinson’s is the obvious one I suppose but could be something minor so I wouldn’t waste any time getting to the quacks.

Parkinson’s was my first thought, but the 4 people in my family that have Parkinson’s it has affected both hands.

An old work mate has it and he said it started in a finger then the whole hand but only his right hand initially but there’s lots else could be causing it too.

It could be the effects of the vibrations from the steering wheel. The human body doesn’t do well when subjected to things like that. Look at workers who use power tools or other vibration causing devices, they’ll tell you it damages their hands.

Funnily enough mine did start in one finger, just got a little worse the last few months, as for Parkinsons I am way too young I’m only in my late late so much more late 20’s ish  I forgot about the other 20+ due to age.

Dave, don’t ■■■■ about, get it checked by your Dr.

Don’t think I do Dave, but I’m currently a carer.

Go see your doctor, when you are there you could get his views on agencies twin splitters and roping and sheeting. You have asked drivers a medical question so why not?

Could very well be carpel tunnel syndrome (ive had it) it can be caused by vibrations coming through the steering wheel, nerves in the wrist get compressed which run through a tube (carpel tunnel) and can cause numbness and shaking of your hand.

I was lucky. it was treated with Voltarol and after a few months disappeared. It does very occasionally return but only mildly. I know others who have had the same problem and had to have the op. Its only a minor out patients job, they cut the carpel ligament to relieve pressure on the nerves…
