Private parking parasites at Felixstowe

One of our drivers a coupe of week ago went into Denholme for a back load, he turns left onto the road that leads up to Denholmes and both the waiting area roads are chocka block, one with cars the other with trucks waiting to go in.
So our driver has pulled up just before the exit sat in the cab waiting until he could get into the waiting lane all of 6 mins until he was able to, gone in got loaded and obviously thought nothing more of it. Last week our company has received a parking ticket for £180 or £250 if not paid within 7 days :open_mouth: from a van that is going around taking photos then sending out tickets for easy money.
Our place are trying to appeal it but the ■■■■■■■ will not budge saying it’s all there in black and white on signs etc and you know what they have issued the ticket for?.. Trespassing on private property as it’s a private road :open_mouth: :unamused: To me it’s just a money making scam just like up on the estate where B&M is at Speake Liverpool.
Just how the ■■■■ do these parasites get away with issuing tickets out for trucks parked outside places they’re either loading from or delivering. Just watch yourselves down there and if the road is full go around the yard, come out and go to the truckstop and ask your company what they want to do.

Yes your driver was stopped he had to to read the parking notice information . End of

They get away with it because soft folk pay up.

Don’t know the specifics here but the speculative invoice sounds well dodgy.

Try searching the company on pepipoo or mse parking forums for some pointers if fighting this.
If your gaffer pays up then let us know as ‘soft folk’ need naming and shaming…

Not sure if…

£180 pounds is what the claimant has ‘lost’. The levy has to compensate the claimant and judges (if you want to take it that far) have been known to lower the cost or kick it out altogether. But there seems to be no precedent and verdicts have gone in favour and against the plaintiff.

First, are the signs clearly marked? Putting something the size of a postage stamp 40 feet up a lamp post would be deemed unfair.

Second, there should be an appeal procedure, use it and throw a whole load of bollox at them.

Third, ask for evidence. They should have a photo of the alleged infringement.

Fourth, have a look at Joe Lycett’s method. Despite the obvious comedic value, it worked.

Good luck, keep us posted.

There’s supposedly signs up but what gets me is the only traffic going up that road is trucks going to load or tip at Denholmes and people working out of the haulage yard across from it as it’s a dead end and the only cars will be from folk who work there.
What exactly have you got to do if like in this case the waiting lanes are full? They want you to go back to the Orwell truckstop and wait there for when to come back down?
Like I said it’s similar at B&M at Speake. If you are queuing to get in to B&M then they can actually do you as well as the signs state no waiting or stopping at any time, it’s an industrial estate ffs :unamused:

Don’t fret Steve, there’s someone in the office who is paid to deal with this crap. If they’re daft enough to even acknowledge these pirates they deserve all they get. You have enough to think about doing your job fella.

speclative invoice… DO NOT PAY
and do not allow your employer to try and claim any of it back from your wages
they were too daft to pay it

Have a look on forums.pepipoo.com/ There is lots of help and information about tickets issued on private land.

Some years ago, I too got one of these from Euro Carparks – it was for parking in a Tesco car park. I had made a purchase but the attendant said I had not parked my car correctly and therefore issued me with a ticket.
I too contacted the company (Eurpcarparks) but did not get anywhere. Researching it on the web I soon discovered that not a single private parking fine case had been taken to court at the time.

The advise given at the time on the peeipoo forums was to simply ignore it and not even waste my time contacting the company as tickets issued on private land are unenforceable and the companies are simply “trying it on” in the hope that some will pay up!

I was advised that I would get some rather threatening letters from “Debt collectors” (which are not the same as bailiffs) and that as long as I was ok with ignoring the threatening debt collection letters I should ignore the ticket and not pay!

I decided not to pay and for the next six months I did receive numerous letters, which said the debt had now increased to some £2000 but if I paid £385 then they would consider that as full and final payment. When I googled the details of the debt collection agency, I discovered that it was registered to the same address as Euro carparks. It seemed to me that the debt collection agency and Eurocarparks were the same company! After about six months they simply stopped sending me any further letters – which is exactly what folks on peeipoo had said would happen.

The conclusion I came to at the time was that issuing a ticket on private land is no different to you issuing a ticket to someone who visits your house, parks their car in your drive and you put a ticket in their windscreen – would you expect them to pay?

Certainly, visit the forums on peeipoo and perhaps upload a copy of your ticket (with personal details omitted) – there are some very helpful people on there and some will have also had the same ticket that you have.

What is the name of the parking company the ticket has been issued from?

Got to be proserve. Bunch of Highwaymen. Do a google search on them.

Then you’re braindead if you think that is right because it isn’t remotely the same as someone who is visiting your house, it is more like a random person you don’t know parking on your driveway because they decided they wanted to. I’d certainly not expect a complete stranger to think they had the right to do what they wanted on my own property. If you think that you’re right then post your address and then we can all use it as we please when in the area.

As for your stupid conclusion, you quite clearly only read what you wanted to read. You’ll also find on all parking forums quite a lot of people who have ended up going to county court, a lot of people who have ended up with a CCJ and people who have ended up with bailiffs on their door. Certainly if a parking firm uses Gladstones solicitors for their claim against you Gladstones WILL take it all the way to court. What you will NOT find on those forums is anyone giving the advice to ignore willing to pay the cost of their advice to anyone who follows it. Not one single one of them will put their money where their mouths are.

Fortunately, it’s different in Scotland!!

Here’s an idea for next time,if your driver has to stop get him to remove the number plate on the trailer and have him cover up the front one…maybe have something made up and kept in the cab for him.
Legally they can’t physically touch your vehicle and if they ain’t got a reg they can’t issue the fine…obviously he’ll just need to remember to display the number plates once the ■■■■ and his camera has cleared off
Play the ■■■■■■■ at their own game…

"Take the following steps to appeal a Parking Charge Notice:

  1. Check if a parking company is a member of an accredited trade association (ATA)

Check the British Parking Association (BPA) or International Parking Community (IPC) websites to see if a parking company is a member of an ATA.

You can also call the BPA on 01444 447 300 to check if a company is a member. Calls to this number can cost up to 12p a minute from a landline, or between 8p and 40p a minute from a mobile (your phone supplier can tell you how much you’ll pay).

Don’t pay a parking ticket from a company that’s not an ATA member. They can’t take you to court because they can’t get your details from the DVLA. They can only chase you for a parking ticket if you give them your address, so don’t contact them.

If you get a ticket in the post from a non-ATA member, report them to Action Fraud because the company could have got your details illegally.

  1. Contact the parking company if they’re an ATA member

You can find a parking company’s contact details on the BPA or IPCwebsites or on the Parking Charge Notice. Check on the notice if you must appeal on the parking company’s website or if you can write to them with your reasons for objecting. Appealing directly to the parking company is called making an informal appeal – you must do this before you make a formal appeal.

You can use our template letter to write to the parking company.

Include any evidence you have, for example:

a valid pay and display ticketphotos of signs that are hard to see or understand, or where the information is misleadinga letter from someone who was with you saying what happened – write ‘Witness statement’ at the top of thisa repair note, if your car broke down

For a hospital parking ticket, you should send evidence to the parking company if your appointment was running late. Ask the hospital receptionist to print a note on headed paper, saying there were delays.

Parking tickets on a private road

On a private road – which must have signs saying ‘private’ – a parking company has to be an ATA member to get your address from the DVLA. The ticket will be for trespassing because you can’t park on private land without the landowner’s permission. To appeal, write to the parking company if they’re an ATA member saying why you weren’t trespassing. Include any evidence, for example a letter from the landowner giving you permission to park."

There’s a Farce book group called “Fight your private parking invoice” they seem to provide sensible information on defending against these invoices, and can advise which companies are safe to ignore, and which companies are highly aggressive in taking people to court (ie: Parking eye). Whatever happens the owner of the vehicle has no obligation to name the driver to the parking company and should not do so under any circumstances

They were my first choice too.

Right shyster who bills the landlord and thus makes his “loss” which he can then try and claim back. His next move, should your firm not pay it and I hope they won’t, is to ban your company from the area. Remember, they cannot immobilise your wagon these days.

I’m sure that you will have noticed that the majority of commercial vehicles are signwritten with their firms name, address and telephone number.

Why bother with the DVLA when the information is there and there are enough gullible ■■■■■ that pay up without challenging and going to court if necessary.

Have you ever tried replying to a post without being a condescending name calling arse hole? (I know, oh the irony) Try it some time, people may actually take you seriously for a change…
