HYG:
I was advised that I would get some rather threatening letters from “Debt collectors” (which are not the same as bailiffs) and that as long as I was ok with ignoring the threatening debt collection letters I should ignore the ticket and not pay!
The conclusion I came to at the time was that issuing a ticket on private land is no different to you issuing a ticket to someone who visits your house, parks their car in your drive and you put a ticket in their windscreen – would you expect them to pay?
Then you’re braindead if you think that is right because it isn’t remotely the same as someone who is visiting your house, it is more like a random person you don’t know parking on your driveway because they decided they wanted to. I’d certainly not expect a complete stranger to think they had the right to do what they wanted on my own property. If you think that you’re right then post your address and then we can all use it as we please when in the area.
As for your stupid conclusion, you quite clearly only read what you wanted to read. You’ll also find on all parking forums quite a lot of people who have ended up going to county court, a lot of people who have ended up with a CCJ and people who have ended up with bailiffs on their door. Certainly if a parking firm uses Gladstones solicitors for their claim against you Gladstones WILL take it all the way to court. What you will NOT find on those forums is anyone giving the advice to ignore willing to pay the cost of their advice to anyone who follows it. Not one single one of them will put their money where their mouths are.
Have you ever tried replying to a post without being a condescending name calling arse hole? (I know, oh the irony) Try it some time, people may actually take you seriously for a change…

I concur with switchlogic, there’s no situation in the real world where I would address another poster like Conor does here to HYG. Well not without expecting to wake up with a crowd round me anyway.
What’s even worse is we have lost some great posters recently over far less.
Anyway HYG is correct from years ago but since the POFA 2012 (protection of freedoms act) came in with keeper liability advice leans to don’t ignore now.
Gladstone’s like other bottom feeders such as BW legal etc use a robot filing method to issue court papers, not all this reach court as they use this extra pressure to try and obtain payment.
As mentioned pepipoo and MSE (money saving expert) are the forums to fight and in a lot of cases win these claims.
They recently helped me win mine, well to be fair the solicitors bottled it after the defense statement stage and issued a discontinuance, ball ache though it was there’s something very satisfying about beating these buggers.

Don’t pay a parking ticket from a company that’s not an ATA member. They can’t take you to court because they can’t get your details from the DVLA. They can only chase you for a parking ticket if you give them your address, so don’t contact them.
If you get a ticket in the post from a non-ATA member, report them to Action Fraud because the company could have got your details illegally.
It seems that Citizens Advice need to update their advice because the above is completely wrong, they haven’t even got the trade body right - its the BPA and IPC member parking enforcement companies who can request details. You can get the details from DVLA about the registered keeper as long as you have “reasonable cause.” Whilst private parking companies can only request the information if they’re members of the two trade bodies there is nothing stopping them passing on the vehicle details to the land owner and the land owner making that request.

Just fed up of reading nothing but ■■■■■■■■ on forums when it comes to anything involving stuff like this, drivers hours regs etc.

First paragraph off CAB link
"1. Check if a parking company is a member of an accredited trade association (ATA)
Check the British Parking Association (BPA) or International Parking Community (IPC) websites to see if a parking company is a member of an] ATA."
Selected from your link.
“Private car parking management companies that give out parking tickets or trespass charge notices can only request information from DVLA if they’re members of the British Parking Association or the International Parking Community.”
Exactly the same advice.
I do agree that there are ways non registered companies could surreptitiously gather your data, but I’d bet a mars bar that a good solicitor could get you off on a technicality. Shame it’d cost you more than a mars bar to do it!
It’s yer guvnor’s problem, let him/her deal with it.
There we have it. I have never understood why drivers get all uppity about parking tickets, diesel prices and everything else that is for people other than themselves to worry about. Still, got to be angry about something,

Maybe it’s just the feeling of an injustice.
Maybe he/she realises that each and every unnecessary or unfair payment the company has to make results in less money in the pot to pay people.
Maybe, and yeah I know this sounds ridiculous in this day and age, but just maybe he/she works for a decent company and has a strong sense of loyalty to the company.
Or maybe it’s just because a lot of drivers love something new to whine and whinge about!
Supatramp:
Fortunately, it’s different in Scotland!!
I got a ticket for not paying at a meter in Greenock. Notice through the post so I wrote back saying the machine was broken and offered the picture of the not in service notice as proof.
They wrote back saying there are signs clearly stating I could pay by mobile and the charge was now £120.
I wrote back again and said no way on this earth was I giving my debit or credit card information across a mobile network and if their machine wasnt working, that was their problem.
Never heard from them again.

Here’s an idea for next time,if your driver has to stop get him to remove the number plate on the trailer and have him cover up the front one…maybe have something made up and kept in the cab for him.
Legally they can’t physically touch your vehicle and if they ain’t got a reg they can’t issue the fine…obviously he’ll just need to remember to display the number plates once the [zb] and his camera has cleared off
Play the [zb] at their own game…
This is what I do , ,sorry I mean it’s what I’d do
Removal of your number plates for whatever reason is an offence.
‘Every vehicle in the UK is required by law to display a number plate on the front and rear of the vehicle for identification purposes, except for motorbikes, which must display the number plate on the back.’
The operative word being display in the above sentence.
I reckon if you remove the number plates, Bumwipe Parking services (or what ever he calls himself) will be on the blower to plod quicker than you can say great bustard. Whether or not plod show up or are too busy saving the public from motorists doing 34 in a 30 zone is another matter.

But if your getting parking mither then you are on private land ? So plod can’t say Jack all ?
