They were brothers both at Millers but the younger one on the
left ended up incharge of crane operations but I had finished then
maybe you to “eh”.It was much later than the days at Greenore. Thought
would of got more response from the lads at sharpness depot but there you go .
They had afew motors down there when it opened on the docks at sharpness
I spotted the old container hoist all rusted a number of years ago.We were loading
cement out of Dragon cement company, don’t know if that is still there or not.
When I spoke with one of the loaders at Dragon he remembered Greenore very well… :grimacing:

Got this today just as the driver was finnishing his break.

Maybe not Preston-based , but this firms boxvans would have traversed the A 583 through Preston , and also along and M 55 many times. Blackpool Van Transport Ltd.s “old timer” was photographed on display at the Lakeland Car Museum , at Backbarrow,
on the old A 590 road towards Barrow in Furness.
The Museum is well worth a visit.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hiya "cattle wagon man "
Strange I was reading some old forums and never saw BVT mentioned
They ran quite a tidy fleet if I remember Vinnie as I recall was one of there
dvrs They also had a Bullnose Mercedes.Anyone got any pics BVT.■■?
GUESTY44

I think this DAF LF belongs to Taylors of Bamber Bridge , Preston. It was photographed as it was leaving J 36 Crooklands Auction Market a couple of months ago. It was loaded to capacity , and towing a loaded twin-axled Houghton livestock trailer. The load consisted of heavy boars , heavy sows , sows with piglets , etc,.......... .......it was "piggin full" of squealers.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Here is a blast from the past.

Who rembers Coaltons transport?

They where on Leyland Lane Leyland where the shell garage is now but that has closed and its fenced off.

Who rembers Canning transpot on Leyland Lane where the ATS is now?

So can anyone rember them.

Think back about 35yrs.

Peter

Ah, I think of Canning being on Tomlinson Road, both J Canning and the last gasp, Canning Distribution. Coalton is a new one on me, I’m afraid

Someone from the Preston area will recognize this Atkinson tractor unit. It bears a Preston reg. no;.
Photographed , as it proceeds through Leyland , during one of the open Transport Gatherings , a few years ago.

William Hunters Seddon , on parade at the ■■■■■■■ Steam Gathering on the old Westmorland Showground , Kendal. I am unsure about the year , but it may have been 1983. Our Leyland is only just visible at the far end of the Showground , so it was maybe awaiting to load Bob Braithwaites `Lyons Tea Albion
following the end of the Show.

You are correct about the wrong colour on the Atkinson radiator grille surround , “L.B.”
Silver/aluminium should be the only colour .

Although Atkinson intended that operators would paint the flange in the cab colour, like this, and published to that effect:

No mistaking as to both the owners name and the wagons manufactures . The sun was (for once  ) shining after a light rain shower at the Open Transport Show `, Leyland.
