Anyone remember R E SHORROCK HAULAGE from pilling, ■■■■ used to run a fleet of atkinson borderers, seddon 400s,volvo f88,a sole f89 and a selection of leyland and atkinson tippers.The artics used to work out of WALKERSTEEL blackburn, hauling coils and plate to london and kent,the volvos occasionally did european and middle east runs.The tippers ran from the quarries around carnforth, delivering lime,stone and tarmac all over lancashire. regards atkimark

Dont think they have had a mention so how about Sharples dark blue artic tippers (not sure now but think they are or where some around lostock hall to leyland area, any clue anyone.Sharples used to be in Chain House Lane at Whitestake (and may still have the yard there, for all I know) but I believe they moved into Mayor’s old yard at Cuerden Valley, next to Bowker. Their last Borderer lay in the drive at Whitestake for years and years after it was parked up
They also had 4 and 6 wheel rigid Atkis as well , did timber work out of the docks i can remember . thank you Trevor .

What a huge place Walkersteel was,delivered steel from scotland there many times. Remember the bikes they got around on .cheers

I quite often got a return load from Walkers Steel in the earler 60s, For Smart & Browns at Spennymoor, 20th Century used to give me the work, Happy days , Regards Larry.

Worked there for 10yrs in the Workshop and the best year I have ever had on the spanners.
We also had F22,F23,F24,F25 RCW all ex D&F Services and then F31 Ex Mayors.

Seem to remember a preston firm called i think BRIGGS. They did parcel delivery and i believe they did a bit of continental work with an artic in the 70s, perhaps the more knowledgable out there remember and can confirm or correct.Think there vehicles where green?

It might have been Edmonsons, I met some of their drivers, Who were not happy about Smiles doing the work But it was short lived anyway and they got full control of the work, Regards Larry.
