Well, I’ve done my little bit.
The black X has been scrawled etc, and the envelope is now in the post box.
Oooh! We are all wondering who you voted for…cant for the life of me think being that you are totally impartial with yoir political views.
Answers on a post card to…
(I’ll maybe vote if there aint a decent game on tv on the day.)
You’ve still got 90mins to apply for a postal vote.
I’ll make it my utmost priority…cheers.
did you put it in a red envelope/
Brown envelope with a crisp £20 note.
I am off to the bookies because I now know who is gonna win!
(it’s this one)
But don’t let on.
Fed up with seeing all the Tory mess-ups hitting the headlines? A slight change here then.
Nearly as good as the London Mayoral candidate Fox who couldn’t organise getting an application form filled in.
Farage is in Blackpool today. He is not alone.
Nah, although I’m certain you will be sat nursing a semi over all this cack…
What I am fed up with is all the overkill of political programmes, documentaries, and discussions on tv AND radio.
I know it’s a national general election, but ffs man.
I cant be the only one who is thoroughly bored sh.less with it all.
I’m so bored with it all I didnt even bother watching your ‘links’.
Oh, hang on, just remembered,…I never do anyway.
Your next statement will undoubtedly be…don’t read the thread.
I get effin e.mails every 5 mins, people responding to my posts.
Comment of the day?
When the Tories chose a hill to die on, who could have guessed it would be
William Hill.
Interview of the week? (And contender for the whole campaign)
ffs for those that havent had enough of the political discussion you can go to glastonbury music festival next weekend and listen to rayner bang on on saturday lunchtime then on sunday you can have an unbiased discussion on the small boat crossings and the housing crisis.
I have never been to glastonbury as it isnt my cup of tea but what has politics got to do with a music festival.
I don’t follow US politics as much as UK politics, but I did notice that Billy Bragg wasn’t performing at the NRA event this year.
Political (in)correctness gone mad , I tell you!
Since Hank Wangford is on the same bill…I imagine more that a few laughs will be had.
But really? What is your point?
Some politicians are on the about 5th or 6th biggest stage or area? So what?
I don’t think attendance is compulsory is it?
If I was going to a festival I wouldn’t be putting that at the top of my list, but since it wouldn’t put me out…? So what?
Here is the line up for those not following the festival
Yo Franglais, you dope man, you down wit da 411 like a mofo, innit bruv?
At the risk of seeming out of touch with the hip comedy of the modern day - some of us still work full time, unlike the semi-retired kidz like Franglais who have time to kick back with alternative comedy - I’ve just had to spend time finding out that this whole thing is intricate satire which makes Philomena Cunk look like Saturday night with Russ Abbott’s Madhouse.
At least Chris Morris’s Brass Eye gave you a clue they were taking the mick
I was equally thrown by Coop’s references to Glastonbury as well.
Satire stops being funny when it’s so close to reality you can’t tell the difference, or maybe that’s the Zen aspect of the situation: there is no difference, and they are all comedians?
Grasshopper, finally you understand the sound of one hand clapping, you may now leave the temple…
The first time I saw Rosie Holt MP, some while ago now, I watched, I got irate, then my jaw dropped, then…I did get it.
I think I’ve mentioned before that (attributed to others as well) Tom Lehrer gave up satire when Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Yes Minister” was great in it’s day. “The Thick Of It” now seems like a documentary or more likely an instruction video.
Ms Rosie Holt has made quite a few broadcasts now, and if anyone has the time, it will bring back some highlights of the past few years.
Is it funny? “If you don’t laugh, you cry”.
It stops me from gnashing my teeth and crying.
I do find that it is easier to laugh after you know the character.
I even had to search up the book title just to be sure it wasn’t serious
I’ve also noticed in the news more reports of the public openly laughing at politicians when they’re making statements, but I suspect their minions will tell their masters it isn’t anything to worry about
Depends on the band performing: Last year some “latest-big-new-thing” band made it straight onto my “don’t give these guys the time of day” list, with a little Bono-style attempt at self-appointed political-influencing, courtesy of them being on stage at Glasto.
I believe their gigs are renowned for the “singer” leading the crowd in chants of “eff the Tories” and “Free Palestine”
This Glasto incident managed to cause a bit of bother at a family gathering, when my nephew’s other-half (both of them 30-somethings) said that, not only was this behaviour acceptable, but that it was necessary because “politicians don’t speak for us”.
Apparently, according to my “niece-in-law”, before we decide to like a band (or not), we are supposed to check-out the band’s political sympathies via social media, and only it these are acceptable to us should we add them to our playlist.
And there was me thinking it was supposed to be about the music…
Here are the offending onanists on stage
I would strongly suggest that whatever Glastonbury used to be, it is now something completely different, or it will be from this year onwards.
i would suggest there is a difference between bono writing a song to raise funds for a charity and several other groups that their names escape me for the moment. to having a discussion at a music festival about stopping the boats and the poor migrants or a political party campaigning.
im with you though nothing annoys me more than some group or lord/lady assigning themselves to a charity or political movement just to sell their songs and make more money.
if you want to raise awareness about a political topic or current affair then do so by all means by donating your time or skill
Just had to dip in to this cack again, just to see if anybody had picked up on what Nige said about Putin and Ukraine invasion…amazed at least one member has not.
‘They’ finally got the chance and opportunity to jump on something he said and make a meal out of it to discredit him,…and to get all the usual whingers and whiners to jump on the bandwagon …(a la Johnson’s after work parties scenario.)
You can not tell me that the 2 main parties aint suddenlly had a lightbulb moment and are now rattled by the Reform crew.
If they were not, what Nige said would not even come on their radar or be mentioned…a bit like the views of the likes of Tommy Robinson for instance.
The obvious retort to that, is ‘It wasnt mentioned on here, because just that…not on the radar’.
But we will see.
Every conversation that has cropped up about the forthcomimg election I have been involved in, I’m amazed at how many people (of many different walks of life btw) .are saying they are gonna vote ‘Reform’.
What a pity it was not proportional representation (I think is the correct term Frangers, me being ignorant of all this grown up stuff )
Kinda decided on my vote,… if only to join the collective message that will be sent out to the appropriate people,.generally to pi55 them off
Here’s a frangers type link to look at and peruse.
This is what he ACTUALLY said btw…
(Not the distorted negatively spun version put about by the BBC etc.)
So not directly the West’s fault, but a reason and opportunity given by the West for Putin to use as an agenda and excuse…(paraphrase btw.)
So what is actually wrong with that statement?
Putin looking for a propaganda gift to feeed to his people as a justification…quite logical.
If you dislike BBC reporting so much that you don’t actually look at it or listen to it, then I’m not surprised you have an inaccurate take on the issue. Radio 4 reported precisely what Farage’s words were, and in the correct context - not least of all because the interviewer in that video clip is Nick Robinson, who is one of the cornerstones of Radio 4’s Today programme. No doubt the audio version of the interview can be found in one of the episodes of “Today” available online
Farage’s whole raison d’etre is to be a catalyst, someone who in his own words likes to “get amongst it and see what trouble I can cause”.
Not necessarily a bad thing at all, but it needs to be taken in context.
If you’ve decided to vote Reform, that’s just democracy in action, but it’s not going to actually upset anyone. In fact I’d go as far as to say it’s just conforming to what seems to be a growing sterotype: middle-aged(ish) white guys in a certain part of the employment sector, liking “Big Nige’s” old-school blokey-image (beer and tabs doon the pub w’the lads) and his tabloid-headline points of view. He’s very popular on North East Truckers FB group.
He’s got some fans in the Tory party too, but unfortunately for him, one of them is Liz Truss and I bet even Nige isn’t relishing that association. But it seems to me that getting one over on the Tories is his real mission, not actually getting elected.
I haven’t decided who I’ll vote for yet, which makes me pretty much the same as the typical person being interviewed by all-and-sundry with a microphone.
Personally I’d vote for Kim Jong if he was standing against either of the lacklustre baboons in the two main partie.
