The statement that numbers rose steadily until Blair got in.

Look at your graph. Look at increases under Blair.
Compare that to the figures in the preceding and following Tory Govs.

126,128 in 1993 down to 125,052 in 1997 drop of 1076 in 4 years by 2000 they had dropped to 121,958 by 2000 a 3 year drop of 3094 nearly three times the amount in 3/4 of the time

Is Boris wealthy enough to hire defamation lawyers to take the Daily Mirror to court? Of course he is.

If it’s such a bunch of tosh, why would he not take the legal option to seek reparations for “reputational damage” or some other such term?

Because he’s a disgraced former PM who writes for the Daily Mail, just today controversially advocating continued arms sales to Israel even in the face of the US mulling over switching off that supply, and has already been mocked by some of ‘his own’, ie Cameron, of having “illusions” of returning to power .

Why are you so keen on Boris? He’s gone, his political career is Norwegian-Blue parrot dead.
All he can do now is criticize from the sidelines, like the average football fan does with his favourite team.

the question of what boris net worth (67 million) is is mute the question is reach plc worth enough to afford lawyers to avoid defamation (they are worth 230 million btw)

im not im simply defending my statement that boris did what he said he was going to do. which is more than can be said for 99% of others like starmer that says one thing and then votes for the opposite.

whats been keeping it going for 5 days is the micky mouse reporting that keeps getting posted as boris failures or launacy

Tories 1979/97
Police 110k to 125k
15k increase in 17yrs

Blair/Brown 1997-2010
125k to 147k
22k increase in 13 yrs

Tories 2010 to now
A drop then a rise to about 3k or 4k more.

£67m? Really?
Is his accountant Don Trump?

I found one reference to that figure in “The Sun”…and that was attributed to CA Knowledge
“Boris Johnson House
Boris Johnson lives in his 6,000-square-foot luxury home located at 10 Downing Street, London. Boris Johnson has bought his house for an estimated price of $6 Million.”

Yeah…right…

so you agree then that it is at the highest level its ever been since 1979.
then lowest it got with the current government again before boris as well as his term was 125,651in 2018 so since then (5 years) 25,046 about 5k a year

blair brown over the steepest recruitment level of 5 years managed19,102 less than 4k per year so sorry boris’s plan still worked better.

Yes… I did agree 9 or 10 posts ago.

Yes Johnson started to fix some of the awful choices of years of Tory governance.
I have never said he did nothing right at all.
I have said, and continue to say that his term was bad.

The absolute numbers of Police officers under Johnson is higher than under anyone else.
With fewer support staff and a bigger population, it is a nominal truth, but a practical shrug of the shoulders.

wouldn’t of been this one would it
Prime Minister Boris Johnson - age, net worth and career

or did you think it was less in wich case your proving my point more

Yes exactly that one.

"## Boris Johnson House

Really? He bought 10 Downing St?
ALL the other results on the www put his wealth around 1 or 2 m.
YOU chose the one that says £67m.
An outlier in anyone’s book.
And that site says he bought 10 Downing St.

But…maybe his personal wealth is a moot point?
Rich or poor…he is still a…
.
Well, not a nice person, nor a good PM…
Although others hold different opinions.

the point i was making was that a company worth 230 million is probably able to have enough lawyers on stand by to skirt liable claims no matter hoe much money boris has. it matters not weather boris has 100 million or tuppence to his name reach p;c have the capacity to tie it up in court till he is penniless if they did make a mistake

look how long they tied the royal family up over the phone hacking whistle blower case. (im not talking about the recent one with the estranged crybaby)

There is going to be some ‘‘Told you so’’ s on one side and some humble pie type silences on the other on this site…in one/two years time or so when Starmer and his crew go on to make a complete cluster ■■■■ of running the country :joy: as I am confident they may well do.
On that side of things I find it quite funny, but on the broader side of things …I dont.

As I’ve said, they are basically all the same wearing different colours.
As a white working class bloke, I can not see a party who is all for me and the likes of me.
I kinda hoped it would be pointed out to me why I should vote for them, but to no avail.

Says it all really, maybe my opinion is widely shared on here after all , with a reluctance to admit.

they will carry on blaming boris for years to come no matter what comes out in the wash the cry will be but boris. the other alternative is they will do what the americans do and slag off the winning party then when they will claim they love them and always did

This thread reminds me of actual politicians, their annoying f. ways,.and their tactics…yawn yawn.

In interviews they spend their time avoiding answering direct questions, and concentrating on the faults and shortfalls of the opposing party, instead of pointing out the advantages of their OWN party.

If I had a particular alliegance to any party, I don’t btw, despite being labelleled a ‘Tory’ on here more than once, which I aint,…I actually voted for Tony Blair ffs in the 90s  so that puts that one to bed  and then came Gordon F Brown…oh sweet Jesus !:flushed:.

I then voted Boris,.I thought he was a bit different,.and a bit of a maverick, which I liked…as did many others , but mainly to deliver Brexit which he did, but those running the show made a complete and utter balls up of it…(purposely !!) which gave the remainer moaners not a field day but a field 5 years  but I have made that point repeatedly before, and am totally bored with that too…Brexit I mean.

Got to wonder if Boris would be still.PM today if the whole covid pantomime and his cheese and effin wine parties , had not given the haters their own way.

I digress,.so to get back on track…Instead of constantly looking back on faliures and f.ups, I would be making comparisons as to how MY party would be soooo much better,.and pointing out reasons to vote for them, not repeatedly slagging off the present shower of sh.

Know what?..I dont think I can even be arsed to vote this time, what would be the point, .I’m totally disillusioned with the Brit political party system, and the whole boring effin aspects of it.

Lets give proportional representation a chance,.that will put the cat among the pigeons, tell a different tale,.and make the whole thing a lot less tiresome and boring. I reckon.

It has been pointed that previously Labour has been better at recruiting Police officers, reducing NHS waiting times, been less corrupt, grown the economy more, but let’s be honest, Starmer may not be the “Jack the Lad” down the boozer that Johnson might be, so just you go and vote for good ole Sunak.

Yes, we are now outside the EU. In that sense Brexit has been delivered.

Now let’s be hones, aren’t you one of those who says “It’s not the Brexit I voted for”?

If I ordered a large pizza with extra mushrooms and salami, and had a small pizza with no mushrooms and a small bit of dried up green looking salami, delivered and had to pay extra for delivery? Yes, I’ve got my pizza, but am I happy?

Those running the show?
What are you talking about? In 2019 Johnson was the PM with a stonking majority, and he had culled the anti-Brexiteers from his own party.
If he wasn’t in charge (!) who was?
Since he was in that strong position, if he couldn’t do the job, what does that say about the guy?!
Yes, Johnson delivered the best Brexit he could manage, and it was and is a absolute shower of ordure.
He would be sacked from any pizza restaurant for incompetence.

Who was in charge in No 10? Who was at the parties? Who lied about it all?
So, is it all the fault of some conspiracy of aliens?

Excellent.
Nice to agree.

Didn’t Boris write that (yet un-released) book about Shakespeare to help with a divorce settlement?

I recall an £800k loan facility when he was in office, to help with income lost from having to leave other work.

Having neither children or Ex Wives myself I probably don’t appreciate the outgoings one might be faced with.

Fees - Eton College

It looks like Johnson has finished and had published book on Churchill.

But Shakespeare?
Boris Johnson’s more lucrative pursuits keep his Shakespeare book on back burner | Boris Johnson | The Guardian
I make you correct. Still not available.

:grinning:

He recently went to Venezuela on behalf of a hedge fund. I doubt that was for free.

He is writing for the Daily Fail.
That job started in breach of the Ministerial Code. He was meant to consult on work for a period after leaving public office etc. (Remember that fuss when Sue Grey got a job with Labour even after following all the rules!)
The Fail said he would be writing weekly, and many weeks he does manage to turn in a column. Boris Johnson, Daily Mail | Daily Mail Online

Wow Frangers ! You ALMOST managed to make a whole post addressed to me without the trademark Franglais…‘little bit of niggle/veiled patronising insult’ :flushed: ie…‘Jack the lad down the boozer/you go vote for Sunak’ :joy: as if I was your mate Karen voting on the X factor :slightly_smiling_face:

Loving the Franglaisisms, keep em coming, and I know you cant help yourself with your ‘superior knowledge syndrome’ issues.
So…

Of course there is always going to be an element of people voting partly on personality of the individual if that personality appeals to you, (not wholly obviously,)… It is human nature.
One of the reasons Johnson got in, and in the past the likes of Corbyn and Haigh did not.

Anyway…
Yep I do know aspects of the Labour plan and manifesto (believe it or not I aint ALL beer and football ) but despite repeatedly me challenging you to tell me how better they will do in the future,.I keep getting 'How bad thr Tories are/Boris lies/Boris parties_and effin Brexit  , and now the latest side swipe…how good in your opinion Labour did in the PAST,.still no mention of the potential ‘rosy future’ under Labour.
I think history will adequately refute that opinion as to how GOOD they did ,.you as a political ‘expert’ should know that in your heart, but withyour Labour rosette firmly off.

No more explaining my theory to you of why Brexit will never work, whilst being quite reluctantly implemented by a group only going through the motions to BE SEEN to do the will of the majority in thr referendum, with no interest of making it genuinely work, as you refuse to listen to the ‘100 times’ I have set it out to you fir whatever reason.
So as for Brexit argued and discussed between you and me?
Subject closed cba anymore as far as I am concerned.
Have a trawl through our old arguments if you have the time or will.

No it wasnt aliens, it was only people like yourself who wholeheartrdly swallowed the whole Covid crap, and/or those who saw it as an excellent vehicle to use to bring him down…again people like yourself.

The realists eventually saw through both Covid,.and the cheese and wine after work parties,.which were just a continuation of people already mixing after their working day, finished off with a bottle or two of white and a buffet ffs…shock horror

I can just imagine you at that time hearing of people actually socialising during covid, sat ‘clutching at your pearls’ whilst not being able to get your breath because of your mask. :joy:
Then YOU call ME a drama queen.:joy::joy:
(Ok a cheap childish remark, but you started it.)

Btw Frangers for somebody that you obviously disproportionately ott despise, (B.Johnson) you seem to take a keen interest in him and aspects of his life, and seem to know a bloody lot about him…just saying like.

I dislike liars, cheats, and selfish lazy grafters.

Because I know about Johnson, I do dislike him.
I haven’t found out about him because I dislike him.

Know a lot?
Well, I have always followed the news and current affairs etc, so know more or less what is going on, and who is involved.

If there are a lot of bad things to be said about Johnson…guess why?
And a lot of bad choices, and actions, means a lot of reasons to dislike someone.

Seems quite reasonable to me to dislike someone who has made the country a far worse place than it could, and should have been.
I make absolutely no apology at all for that.
Hey! I tell it like it is! That is the sort of guy I am!
