Political discussions...

Gonna regret this no doubt…

Of course they chose who they saw as favourable members and colleagues for their cabinet jobs, yeah maybe friends, who knows…and if you want to refer to them as sychophants to feed your hatred, and show disdain, that’s up to you.

Did Starmer pick enemies then?, or those that were likely to be incompetent?..(best not to answer that btw with the performance so far :joy:)
Or did he pick trusted colleagues that were thought good enough to do the job… or yeah, even a couple of ’ ‘sychophants’
I fail to see the problem or your point.

By those reckonings maybe Lee Carsley best pick a side out of the reserves for tomorrows England game…not the 1st team individuals that he favours.
(Come to think of it after Thursday night’s performance, that may be a better option.:joy:)

As for Boris’s ‘second coming’.:flushed:
Omg how YOU would hate that.
I can only live in hope.:joy:

It’s more likely that the crusade to remove trucks from the roads in favour of rail will remove more drivers jobs than unfair dismissals.

There is an issue with the Gov’s comms, yes.
But not with what they are doing IMHO.

The laws designed to stop “fire and rehire” seems a good idea. It was talked about by the last Gov although they did nowt.

Getting a £1b to expand docks seems a good thing too.

The error was singling out one investor by name, just ahead of a meeting.
Does anyone suggest that the new laws should be dropped to appease DP World? Or that the Gov should ignore DP World because they have done a bad thing in the past?
Get real.

Yep, a comms mess up, but probably not a disaster, as they will 99% sure get over their huff.

Malcolm Tucker will be swearing at Ollie Reeder and Terri Coverly, but no heads will be rolling.

Agree

So you are asking 2 questions in this paragraph and then use the words “get real”. Who has actually muted those implausible questions or commented on such scenarios? Only you.
I for one am totally in favour of more protections for employees. But after my initial post on workers getting more protection (and quite rightly so), my further
posts were not really about that, they were about the incompetence of the Minister with her wobble gob, but never mind eh?

DP World/P&O Ferries flagrantly breached the law with the sacking of the 800 staff, but escaped punishment for it.

Now, because P&O’s parent company have money to invest, our new government - despite their stance on fire and rehire/replace - want to let the matter of the sacking of 800 staff be forgotten/sidelined.

Once again we can see that Labour seriously need some common sense advice on PR, or perhaps need an honest tariff of “the price of forgiveness”.

Perhaps they could get some advice from the Catholic Church? They have for centuries doled out absolution for some form of “price”

Pete Townsend’s words must surely have a place in history for decades to come:
“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”.

Back to my ‘favourite’ subject and biggest current political bug bear imo.
Illegal immigration and the importation of criminal scum…yeah ok, I know, me too.
(Don’t worry it’s another GB News source, so it can not possiblly be accurate in any way.…but being that MSN such as the BBC fails…or refuses to report it, it’s the only source unfortunately)

The importation of more criminals continues, particularly those committing 2exual offences against our girls and women,.while it is virtually ignored by this govt.

One 16 yr old girl r4ped on the back of a bus ffs :flushed:, …on her way home when she thought she was in relative safety…
This is the sort of thing that I got lambasted over for stating that I covertly followed my under 16 grandaughter and her friend in my car with a baseball bat,.after she told me she had been harrased on a couple of occasions.
Some poor husband,.Dad,.or Grandad is going to do time for one of these a/holes, because the Police are not interested unless they are actually assaulted or r4ped.

If you cba to watch it, at least go to the 8.30 min marker where the lady sums it up saying…
‘‘This is not a right wing issue, if you want to be safe in your own country and see people stopped being r4ped and assaulted, you have to stand up against it’’
She says Labour (and their fans )are demonising people who speak out against this stuff, with the lefty luvvys on the other side telling us they are all ‘poor refugees fleeing from war torn countries’…they are NOT.
In a nutshell I reckon.

And the ex Labour minister counterbslance guest on there tells us without a hint of shame or irony…
Wait for it…

‘‘We have already in 90 days made a very impressive start’’.:joy::joy:
Comical Ali the 3rd no less.:joy:

On the other hand there is a funny side to everything.:grinning:

Change the lyrics to Franglais will pay the bill.

Can’t believe how quiet this thread is compared to this time last year,.when we had a constant almost daily report of what the Tories were up to and how bad they were doing…hmmmm🤔

Anyhoo I always try and keep my end up…ooer Mrs.

Maybe the thread is quiet because people are bored with it?

Certain posters weren’t bored with the daily Tory and Boris bashing we were subjected too.

Looks to me like there is some 2 tier bashing going on here.

I sense a bit of :fishing_pole_and_fish::fishing_pole_and_fish::fishing_pole_and_fish::fishing_pole_and_fish::fishing_pole_and_fish: going on here. :joy:

Yeah good point.
Thing is this though this time last year this thread was ALMOST as boring as the Brexit thread, …but it did not stop it being perpetuated to death.

I would have thought that now in such a short time that it HAS in fact been proven that Labour are as bad as the Tories, as everybody else knew, that there would have been no end of milage to carry it on in the same vein.
Seems that the Labour 2 tier system of ‘One rule for one and one for another’ has even been expanded to Trucknet’.:joy:.

Or hope by some who have been proven wrong that if it is ignored long enough it may go away.
It would NEVER do to actually admit that one may have been wrong after all, especially with all the the bluster and pomposity perpetrated on a daily basis.

I suppose the best we can hope for is a list of the worst things the Tories did, and a list of comparatively less serious things that Labour have done so far to ‘prove’ a point backed up by numerous links… in a ‘Sutcliffe was not as bad as Hitler’ type style.:joy:

Think things will pick up rr when the budget details are announced.

Have any politicians been caught watching ■■■■ in the HoC lately?

Taken brown envelopes or any such for lobbying? Anyone changing the goalposts to help those who did that?

Any known sex pests been appointed to posts of authority?

Any undeclared gifts found?

Anyone lying to Parliament? Lying to the Monarch?

Holding illegal parties?
Getting police fines after admitting wrongdoing of another sort?

Yes, it is getting boring.

Good. :grinning:

And when I were a lad, this was all fields…

Here’s something far more interesting than the recycled slagging-off of Kier Starmer

or, for those without a sweet-tooth: Socks!

No need for brown envelopes, a £279m investment from Lilly for what in return? There are thousands of overweight people happily working, a fat jab will not cure idleness.

Harebrained idea.

Yep just like I said, Sutcliffe wasn’t as bad as Hitler.
So now we have heard from you how bad the Tories were, (yet again ) …
In the interests of balance and impartiality (look it up) …
What about the injustices, f/ups, bad decisions, lack of action in important issues, out of touchness with much of the public, betrayl of elderly voters, breach of manifesto, time it has took for Starmer to be as popular as piles, the blatant free loading from all corners, …and all in less than 3 months.:flushed:
If you can be arsed to address those points, at least leave your ‘Comical Ali’ hat off.

Not exactly sure what your point is mate, it’s a political discussion thread and I’m discussing politics.

Yep, I fully get it, it’s boring, but Franglais has been a specialist weapons grade bore on this thread and everything Brexit …(and Covid ) for God knows the last how many years.
He has had his own way and slavered on about Johnson and the Tories continuosly for years, but has conveniently failed to even slightly criticise this shower of sh in power now…, even though they have been shown to be inept in epic proportions.
Instead (as I predicted) he continues to drone on about how bad the Tories were.:joy:

So forgive me in my (self entertaining ) efforts to tedress the balance, and generally pi55 him off, and point out to him what the rest of us know…that he aint half as clever as he gives himself credit for.

However I will let you know when I get bored with it…promise.:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Broadly, I agree, though I see a large number of obese drivers who are definitely working, but they aren’t exactly “happy:wink:

For these people who “can’t work”, their bulk is going to be a result of one of two issues: (i) poor mental health (some victims of abuse make themselves fat because of the abuse), or (ii) a lack of reality in their previous existence where they’ve been told it’s not their fault they’re fat , even though they sit on their backsides, stuffing junk food down their neck while claiming “It’s me glands!”

Meanwhile, a handful of companies make big profits from ultra-proccesed garbage they have the cheek to label as “food”, and a succession of TV shows validate the lifestyle of obese people, eg My 600-lb Life - Wikipedia

Modern society is pretty sick, it wasn’t like this in the 60’s or 70’s.

Does whoever the imbecile is in govt, who came up with this b/s, .really think that all those obese lard arses who are on the dole, are only there BECAUSE they are fat? :joy:
How out of touch with reality are these people.
