Yet another one from Bubbleman’s scrapbook collection…

greyknight:

Brings back memories. Long time ago thou.

This is currently appearing on the Scrapbook Memories and Scammell Crusader threads. Being as it’s a Peterborough Haulier, it gets another outing!

Barry J. White came from somewhere in the area, although I can’t remember exactly where. I wonder if there was any connection with Cyril White?
This Seddon Atkinson was driven by Graham Wakefield, who i’d previously worked with at Reads of Peterborough, and it’s seen here, parked-up by
the Dogsthorpe brickworks.

Barry White was Cyril A white youngest son who first drove the volvo 86 for his dad then I took it over when he set up on his own wiyh a seddon four wheel rigid and later bought a neww commer commander rigid and then a volvo F88 which I drove for a few weeks before joining P.H.H. Barry is seen on here driving his fathers mickey mouse Foden

Thanks for that greyknight. Often wondered if there was a connection, and you’ve answered it perfectly.
Don’t know if it’s my imagination, but the Commando rings a bell. Any pics?

sorry no pics but toanswer another query Barry white did indeed move to wisbech when he bought out Johnson and Morgan and eventually became E.A.W. transport from Elm

Just as I was starting to think that this thread might dissappear, Bubbs comes up with another picture.
This time, it’s Mick Thomas. The paint scheme was the same as Ken Thomas.

I actually worked for Mick Thomas when this Atki was in service and if my memory serves correctly it was one of four south wales trunk motors that changed over at Cirencester each night sunday to thursday. When I started at M.Thomas who is Ken Thomas eldest son who’s depot was the old station yard at Thorney I was day shunter and tipped and loaded one of them in East Anglia

An ex Mick Thomas B Series in use as a shunter at Wilcox Bodies in 1998.

I’ve been trawling through some of the other threads on TN and found this Foden, belonging to Deeping Direct Deliveries.

Another one here, this time Thorys. They run a smart fleet of vehicles, primarily tippers.

Once again, Bubbleman has something in his collection that relates to this topic.
I hope you don’t mind me borrowing it.

Mid-Anglia Transport were based at Fengate, Peterborough.
The colour scheme was red and black.

Looking at those pallets I reckon he’d just tipped a load of fertilizer!

Yet another one from Bubbleman’s exceptional collection.
This time it’s from the Mick Thomas fleet.
