Ted Fox
It is Hoveringham Steve .
I had forgotten about Ted Fox. A couple of Ballidon lads went to work for Ted, Grenville Hartley and Mick Foxon. I don’t remember the all white Longcliffe Foden or the Leyland though.

Superb photos Dan, many thanks for posting them. The Hoveringham and Slinter wagons look to be on the road between Hassop and Carver lights.
The Harry Evans Octopus looks to be in the entrance yard to Ogdens quarry on via Gellia.

Mmm, no tarmac plant! I wonder when it was erected, it was there (virtually in the centre left of the pic) in the late 90’s?
Pete.
no use putting a tarmac plant there pete , leave it to the professionals up our end .dave

Dunno - but there was definately a tarmac plant there in 1969/75, 'cos that’s when we did the M62 over Scammonden and Windy to Rochdale from there!

Possibly the older asphalt plant which was further up the hill to the left out of shot Steve, maybe even before that was erected perhaps? I guess that my old gaffer Eric Gough was in Dene back then? The lower plant was more modern, I did a few loads from both plants when I drove for Eric in the late 90’s until I finished in 2002.

The tar plant that was positioned near the old Hoveringham garages was put in around 2000. Unfortunately it didn’t last too long.
Here’s a series of pics of Dene took around 1988. Must’ve been a weekend as it shows the fleet of DS tankers and ODs.
It could have been installed as late as 2000 Bonkey but I thought it was there when I first went into Dene which would have been 1998? Anyway it ain’t there now! I went in Dene a lot for Slinter Mining at one time when things were VERY slack elsewhere (always praying that some other quarry would phone me with a better offer before the day was out!) but didn’t tale a lot of notice about what was going on in Tarmacs area of the quarry. Good pics though, interesting to see it as it was.

Here’s an earlier one from Dene showing the fleet of Hoveringham tippers. The area where they’re parked looks to be close to where the weighbridge is now.
Not sure if I have added these before Frank Brown of Cherry Tree Farm Stockport.(Photos by Peter Davies)
