Hiya i think i remember Rob Slack driving JBF125…Richo at Throwley hall had a KV ERF 4 wheeler i think that was JBF124
John

A chap called Ralph was the main driver. The motor I think was a Foden demonstrator.I understand it went down South and I think somebody saw it at a show as work in progress.Would be nice to see it again.
George Richardson used to run Thorneycrofts when I first knew him.I don’t remember the E.R.F.but he did have quite a few different makes.I sold him a couple of lorries. One a nearly new Riever tipper and a Ford D600 dropside which he part exchanged an Albion Cheiftain which I sold to Charlie Hart at Longford. He also bought a Ford Corsair with which I called on him on my “rounds” and he paid me and I had to wait for somebody to pick me up who hadn’t a clue where the place was so had to wait a fair while. One little story about selling to George was as usual farmers chuck their cheque books on the table for you to make out then they sign it.I banked with the same bank and signed it so I made another one out and signed that one too.Well nobodies perfect !

Tony

Yes Ralph drove that Foden for Sellers and Kent and it was working from Ballidon when I started there. I remember one of our old drivers telling me that he had to go and trans-ship part of the load from it when it failed to get up Warmington Hill between Warwick and Banbury!

Don’t think that Guy pic is Ashbourne at all though, cannot say where it is alas. Ashbourne’s main street is straight from Mayfield Road up to the start of the Market Place. Good to see you back on the forum Bill, not seen you around much but I might catch you around next year. Just come back from the Coppice Steam rally and truck show near Cossall but mostly new stuff that you can see in any motorway services daily! :unamused: Not my scene really, but there were a few oldies which interested me.

Please post what you have Barry, time allowing of course. Plus anything else from the Peak District. The Foden tanker you posted was fantastic. Guessing by that point it was an internal vehicle.
