Here’s the real 199.
Nice pic.the Albion and a good restoration but I don’t recall them operating any Albions until the Reiver came along.
That does’nt mean there were none as I’m sure someone will tell us.
Tommy Wards Shining Bank had a fair few.
The Morris Commercial Equiload (what a great name)is a Bob Tuck picture from Sept.Truck&Driver.
Anyone recognise the driver, must be early 50’s? and I bet those prefabs are still occupied
The good old days. Mike.

Hiya…a chap who lived across from me drove for Derbyshire stone i remember his first albion(lad cab)he had Morris
commercials before that, the ones with the suicide doors. mind you i’am not knocking the restoration, if the chap likes
Derbyshire stone livery why not. my AEC only ever drove on the old Adams butter site for a photo.she never carried butter,
i like her as she is crean and green the old Adams livery.

PS who said eddie stobart started the smart image for drivers. just look at the chap tipping, smart white shirt and tie
and a driving jacket…top bloke in my book
John

Hi John, yes I agree its the restoration and the continuing care that matter, its great to see that people bother.
Dan. Herman Martin, from Bonsall what a gentleman.I worked with him at M.Peak, don’t think thats him,but ?
Mike.

Hermans wife was my grandma s cousin ,Apparently Herman would always wear a shirt and tie and never get out with his gloves on ,I think he did drive a Morris commercial at Derbyshire stone.

Dan spoke to me dad think it could be Fred Allen

He makes us look scruffy.

Dan, I thought that Terry Mellor’s Albion was ex Derbyshire Stone?

Pete.

These are already on here somewhere but know harm in seeing them again. Not my photos by the way

hello John lovely old photos , especially the s20 Foden that company may have hauled lime to shotton , thank you Trevor

Great photos John, They bring back some good memmories I may tell you, Keep them rolling, Regards Larry.

Couldn’t resist this one today while passing through Stoney Middleton

that old volvo certainly earns its keep john . stuart has a low loader and a tipping trailer , so it is coupled to one or the other whenever needed . i’ve not been down that way for a while , but he used to run one or two elderly motors . cheers , dave

It’s always been a source of some amusement to me that there’s a Stoney Middleton in Derbyshire, but a Middleton Stoney in Oxfordshire.

I’ll get me coat.

great pics

Anyone got old pics of Barlow Hodgkinsons plz my dad worked there for a long time thank you crane

I think you may find there are a few on this thread, but here’s one for you to be going on with.

These pics were sent to me a few years ago but I have not posted them before in case of infringing copy write issues. However I cannot recall who sent them so I am going to risk it!
The first three were taken at the lorry park at the rear of Jack Burston’s garage on Mayfield Road, Ashbourne, which was a popular place back when you could take your lorry home. All Tilcon lorries were from Ballidon Quarry, and at one time or other I had repaired/driven each of them.

First pic shows the Tilcon Ballidon S50 half cab Foden driven by Hugh ‘Bay’ Spencer, next to it is one of Sellers & Kents from Ilam eight legger bag lorries and then the S80 Foden tanker driven by Vernon Wibberley.

The next pic is one of S&K’s Foden tankers, the S40 cabbed (S50 half cab originally) tank driven by the Late Gerald Handley and the S80 tank of Malcolm Gallimore.

Finally two pics of NRB 174J, the second one being a Peter Davies photo taken on the A51 near Rugeley.

Pete.

The Late Sam Hambleton in TRB 131K

The S50 below was driven by John Wareham and was based at Tilcon’s Kevin Quarry in Staffordshire, following a cab fire it was also recabbed as an S40 and did more service with a muckshifting firm in the West Midlands.
