It certainly is Chris.
Great pictures of Buxton carnival, Just as a matter of interest Buxton is not in the Peak District.
The Peak District National Park actually skirts around it (lucky Buxton!) due to the close proximity of so many unsightly quarries getting in the way of their favoured tea shops and visitor centres.
Buxton is in the Peak District but not in the Peak District National Park. Plenty of tea rooms in Buxton though.
Welcome to Trucknet James … these are just the type of photo’s we are short of now, thanks for putting it on.
Paul.
Yes Welcome James nice picture. As Paul says we could do with more of those, thanks.
Mike.

I seem to recall a café in Buxton when I was a kid where wagon drivers stopped. It was up Terrace Road on the High Street where the market place is or was, haven’t been for years.
I can’t remember that one Chris but if breakfast was due and we could’nt get parked up for the Newhaven cafe we’d head for the cafe on West Rd.,that was the one as you enter Buxton on the Ashbourne road (London Road) to the lights, turn left as if heading for the Cat and it was immediately on the right don’t think I’m dreaming this but I am sure I will be put right.I also use to pick a van load off cheeses up once a month at a place right on those very lights of Dale Road, memories or are they dreams
Mike.
Nothing wrong with your memory Mike, the café was George Vales and the cheese place just across the lights at the top of Dale road was (I think) Bradbury’s Cheese. After a few buy outs, Bradbury’s Cheese is a massive set up on Staden lane industrial estate, just off the A515 near B&Q.

Crikey thanks for the info “wondercat” pleased the cafe was’nt a dream. It was 61/62 when I use to pick the cheese up.I worked for Bagnalls the crocers in Wirksworth.Did’nt realise that Bradburys (albeit after several takeovers) were still operating.Just been on google earth and as you say its quite a big operation. I was in BQ only last week must open my eyes more. And “R.O.F” the BQ site use to be Focus ( I think ) is that what you are thinking, don’t think there is a Wickes in Buxton, but.
Mike.

These were regulars during the 60s/70s out of the quarries in Buxton (Pics with the permission of Bubbleman) although during the 60s they ran quite a big fleet of 4 wheeler TKs and boy could they fly.10
