I would imagine that the Charcon artic would be based at their Hulland Ward plant. We had several trucks taking six or seven loads of dust in there daily, a couple of drivers did nothing else for over twenty years.
Pic of part of their yard, not my pic though.

Pete.

Morning Pete, I think thats the only Charcon truck we have had on here as dont remember that name. That must have been a
bloody boring job doing the same run for twenty years… :open_mouth: :unamused:

Dont know if you remember this fella Ken Trowell with his Ford Transcontinentals as he used to back load out of Charcon back South.

Hi Dean
Beacon Hill had 7 when I was there,2 mastiffs ,1 super mastiff , 1 bison ,1 Guy the F7 and a little terrier.
I was told John is in a care home now and June is living with her daughter, all rather sudden and a great shame.

Thanks for the info on the Beacon Hill fleet and for the D&L pics, thats how i see them pulling a walking floor trailer.
The red Globetrotter is some motor.

Thats a shame to hear about John, i wonder what has happened to his old trucks ?

Heres another of John’s motors which looks like its parked up the lane.

You may find this article intesting, although its from 1963 about the Euro - Asian highway.

All your articles are interesting Dean and please thank Paul Gee for all his awesome photos.

I can’t remember what lump they had in the Transcons but I do remember that they lost two in Austria during the winter.
One with an electrical wiring fire and one allegedly, crashed after the accelerator froze.

The electrics from what i have read about the Transcon were a well known weakness.
Posted a fair bit about the Transcon on page 356 if your intrested in them.

Some trucks at the steam fair.

Looks like an Iveco but also badged Magirus Deutz for a while. Its in the dreaded white so no idea who operated it,but looks like
it carried hazardous cargo.

Looks like one of Chris Dare’s motors who used to operate around 5 motors from memory and used to park where the Haskins garden
centre is at Hampreston near Ferndown.Seen here with a container that he is returning to Poole docks for shipment back to France.

J.Pike Leyland Constructor with a 265bhp Rolls Royce engine seen here heading between Bournemouth and Poole. They were based
locally but not sure where there yard was ?

E.G.Hoare Leyland roll on roll off from Ferndown. Looks like the old girl has a few battle scars.

Anyone recognise this Leyland Bison tipper heading towards Poole ■■ Possibly one of Eaton’s or Dennis Fall from Ferndown ■■

M0219p.JPG

Looks to be the vehicle air filter housing Dean, as it stuck out a bit behind the cab on this unit look as if to maximise the size of the bodywork they have moved it.

The taylors lhd volvo is from Aldridge west Midlands, there is a restored f12 in that livery that goes to the shows. There may be a thread on tn as i remember seeing some of their trucks somewhere.
