PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

Posted these two photos of Harrison & Jones Fodens from Royton near Oldham a long time ago.
But since then found some articles and odds and sods about the vehicles and company.

Click on pages twice to read. Anyone who remember’s the Motor Transport newspapers will remember they were like the old Times newspapers
and huge. So you need to drop down to page 2 to finish each colum of writing as they are so long its impossible to scan on one page.

Interesting reading about the compacting foam bodys, although they didn’t sound to be a success having to leave time for the foam to re-expand, surprising that they then ordered the newer foden?

Great to have you back on here Dean, missed this thread.

Steve

The Circus is in town. I wonder what a Scammell Contractor would fetch these days.

There was a haulier that use to have a yard on the Upton industrial estate that used to do the Metal Box work out of there Hamworthy
factory. Can anyone remember there name and was this one of his trucks ? I seem to remember Eddie Stobart went in there and took
all the work and he ended up finishing.

D & J Hedgeman Volvo FL10 from Wool leaving a building site in Poole.

Anyone recognise the reg on the DAF 2800 which is just about to hang a right and go into the ferry terminal at Poole docks.

Liquids Powders Gas Transport DAF tanker seen here parked at the Poole lorry park. Think they had several depots.

Anyone recognise the Bedford TM,cant make the writing out on the door ■■

No idea who operated this Mercedes heading towards Poole, anyone recognise it ■■

Pontrilas timber Foden who’s yard is near the English/Welsh border not far from Hereford.

SCA Transport Roadtrain seen here heading away from Poole towards Bournemouth and the spur road upto Ringwood.
Anyone know what SCA stands for and where they were based ■■

Anyone recognise the DAF ■■ Looks very much like an ex Williams Brothers from North Wales as they were that colour scheme ?

Anyone recognise the Foden tipper which i would imagine was heading into West Howe Industrial estate where i think Tarmac
had a yard.

Hi Dean, With reference to the SCA Leyland artic, The SCA company was formerly Reed Corrugated Cases, and in later days
became Saica. There were several factories in the UK, This first picture is Reeds large factory at Wigan on the A49, just a stones
throw from M6 Junction 25. Just below the picture to the right was Louis Reece wholesale fruit & vegetable warehouse, and
below the picture to the left was the modern depot of Robert Baillie & Co Ltd, whereas now, Baillies site is Sainsburys large
supermarket since 1995, I go there once a week for food, milk, beers, & wine, and get points on my Nectar card. Click the
pictures for the full image.

Cheers, Ray.
