PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

Cracking photos Dean. Marshalls from Evesham have been going a long time, did a lot of market work along with R Sinclair and Spiers and Hartwell from the same town.

Hi Dean and Paul.
Great photo of WARE TRANSPORTS, MERC. I always liked their colors. I worked for them at their Feltham/Heathrow depot back in 84 before my first adventure to North America. It was mostly DAFs at that time with one 1625 Merc. They were good to work for mostly air freight and road going groupage.
Regards Paul

The eclipse curtain slider is from hull long established company still trading tthanks for great photos merry Christmas to u

Hi Dean, Reed Corrugated Cases Ltd and Reed Transport were all part of the Reed group, their head place was Maidstone.
I drove for the Reed Group at their Wigan factory for approx 1 year from early 1973. There was a Reed Corrugated
factory at Thatcham in Berkshire. All the factories did Night trunk changeovers, some at Strensham Services M5 and at
Newport Pagnell on the M1. I have just remembered, there was a Reed Group factory and Reed Transport at Darwen
near Blackburn. There are some Reeds pictures on the Wigan site that I started a few years ago.

With regard to the Cutler of Poole Mercedes-Benz lorry, I wonder if they were connected to a Dorset group of singers
called " Adge Cutler & The Wurzels ", one of their songs was " I got a brand new Combine Harvester ", I expect you will
remember that song.

Cheers, Ray Smyth.

Hi Dean.
Dennis Dixon Ltd is from Middlesborough and Mill Transport is from Doncaster.I think Dennis Dixon was an ex tanker driver - maybe an ICI employee - who started up when ICI broke up.

I did wonder if they were something to do with Reed Transport so thanks for confirming that Ray. Posted an article back on
page 98 about Reed’s.

As far as i know Cutlers of Poole had nothing to do with the Wurzels. “I got a brand new combiner” actually went to number
1 in the charts. The other big hit “I am a cider drinker” went to number 3 in the charts. My uncle hired them to sing at his
wedding.
