Did Wyvern Cargo used to do groupage freight to and from the Channel Islands? Seem to remember in the early 90,s doing a bit of agency work for Team Hawk out of Newcastle and it was a regular backload for them out of Poole with the couple of times i loaded from there with tomatoes.Possibly chap. Or would that have been Channel Express who were at Bournemouth airport and had planes going back
and forth to the Channel Islands.![]()

The blue MAN was owned by FW Eaton transport of Poole and is being driven by Don who always wore a tie.
Thanks âsteamâ
I wonder why they never had there name/phone no on the motors ?
Yes im not sure why their trucks never had a name or phone number on them, I drove for Eatons in 1984/5 and again in 1990 for a short time.

âDEANBâAnyone recognise the yellow DAF seen here between Wimborne and Poole.
If my memory serves me right then the yellow DAF tipper was owned by a chap that used to work for Moreys when they were at Ringwood, he left them and started up as an owner driver. cant remember his name.
Thanks for the info âsteamâ,we have had a few of Moreyâs DAFâs on here.

Gday Dean,
I used to work with a chap who drove one of Ladbrokes Transcons- apparently they had 2 of them.
He enjoyed the job, as many of the bingo halls were located in holiday camps - I canât remember if it was Butlins, Pontings or whatever, but apparently most night -outs were spent drinking beer and chasing women in a holiday camp.
Cheers, Keith

Hi Keith,I also worked with a second man on a Ladbrokes Transcontinental wagon and drag,he would be in his late teens. It was based at Hellaby Industrial Estate near Maltby Sth Yorks. It was involved in a fatal accident I think.
Kempston:
foden tipper cawley luton 77 ppg.PNGCawleyâs mainly run volvoâs and Scaniaâs now Dean predominantly on waste, I used to use them a lot when I was at Smiths, good young bloke in the transport office called Guy iirc. They used to take scrap down to London in bulkers and rubbish back up to Shanks in either brogborough or Stewartby landfills. They also have another depot in Wellingborough and Northampton with quite a few skip lorries also a few tankers and curtainsiders on hazardous waste. Donât see so many around as I used to, maybe due to Mick George Haulage moving into the area, there vehicles are like flies around Bedford and Milton Keynes nowadays. Fast becoming the Eddie Stobart of muck away and waste disposal. Over 100 lorries last I heard but I do have to say they are kept immaculate and very new motors.
Thanks for the info âKempstonâ .
Heres another clipping about that Foden.
Kempston:
I stand corrected, just googled them out of interest, Mick George currently employs over 1000 people and operates over 450 vehicles from 40 depots.
Thanks for the pic chap, they are a big player.
