I vaguely remember reading that Dean when it was published , i knew a few of their drivers , i cant remember the name of the bloke who took them over but he was a serial [zb] , he ruined Barnfather in Durham , he bought Henry Longs through A dOne that he bought and closed them both , someone on here may be able to put it in better english than me

Thanks for the comments “ramone”

Not sure if this is the same Barnfather you mentioned. :unamused:

That F7 with the tank could be a Barnfather from Durham, they did a lot of work for Thorn and the Thorn logo is on the side of the cab.

Originally known as Barnfather & Wilkes they started in the fifties and were based in Littletown a village to the east of Durham City.
They then moved a couple of miles closer to Durham to a large yard in Sherburn Village. (now a housing estate) Not sure if they moved to the Dragonville Ind Est and changed the fleet colour to blue before or after the takeover, which as previously mentioned ended badly.

A friend of mine drove for Barnfather and Wilkes for many years until they called it a day, he said it was a brilliant company to work for. He was based at Leeming where he still lives. He spent two weeks delivering Tilcon Perlite in Germany and they looked after his wife and family while he was gone.

“DEANB” Hall Aggregates Constructor.
Hello Dean a nice mixed batch of pictrues again i think this Hall Aggregates constructor is the truck my friend now owns who is based in tilbury in essex Tony Gothard had a fleet of ex Rmc tippers and they were going to be used for the film work Hell drivers but sadly didnt happen due to heath and Safety and plus the low emission zones in London and other parts of the couteys a great shame really as a group of us was looking foward to it going head Daz

That rings a bell Daz. Pretty sure there was something about him in one of the magazines, which i think i have but not scanned and no idea
what magazine it was in. :unamused:
Hi Dean i will try and find that magazine with Tony Gothard fleet of Hall Aggregates Constructors in there which were all up running and ready for the Helldrivers film work

Mark R:
Really enjoyed the recent piece about Crooks Seddon Atkinson tipper, but that exhaust pipe looks extremely vulnerable hanging down that low under the front bumper. I wonder why it was speced that way instead of the traditional place under the chassis, or even vertically up the back like many are…

Thanks for your comments Mark.
