Perhaps there was less fuss made in that part of P&O but, in Pandoro, the shop stewards would be looking out for this chap, as the “cab hotel” was severely frowned on!
W & J Hunter…
They’re a big West Lancashire produce company, with a sizeable transport arm of their own
huntapac.co.uk/
You’ll have seen their old motors about too: the late Bill Hunter built up a large collection of immaculately-restored lorries, and also a coach, to the extent of setting up a private museum. Unlike in many cases, this has been maintained after his passing
Thanks for the info on Huntapac and those truck photos of Bill Hunter are immaculate. Must have cost a fortune to have them restored to
that condition.

Here are some factory photos of the SA participant on its home ground:
Incidentally, the 6x4 rigid in the middle of the second photo, was actually rebuilt out of a J-reg Mk.2 tractor
That front mounted silencer would have lasted about a day on our job!
Pete.
I think that was something to do with your driving Pete !

The Curran ‘Reiver’ is actually a Super Mastiff Dean. Certainly got a fair jag of stone on its back.
Pete.
I did that on purpose Pete to see if anyone was paying attenion…

Must admit i did not click on the pic as its the same cab as the Reiver and Clydesdale and Boxer. What was the difference
between the Mastiff and Reiver Pete as they look identical ■■ Mastiff was more powerful.
Heres a bit on the Super Mastiff.

I have previously posted some info on the history of the Hunter Octopus GJM 768 which was new in 1960 into the “A” Licenced fleet of J.B. Hudson of Sandside Westmorland. It was the last new motor to join their fleet prior to the death of the owner Mrs. Maggie Bowman ( Daughter of J B Hudson) . I believe that in order to meet Maggie’s Death Duties her Son Raymond sold the haulage business to Athersmith Bros of Barrow-in-Furness. As it turned out the ,then, strict licencing regs prevented Athersmiths from absorbing the 5 motor J B Hudsons fleet into their Barrow based operation so they had to continue operating the JB fleet from Sandside which wasn’t a success so in June 1966 Athersmiths sold the J B Hudson Ltd. business to Davy & Co ( Grange) Ltd who were based in Milnthorpe. Exactly 10 years almost to the day in June 1976 I purchased all of Davys Transport operations which included what was left of J. B. Hudson Ltd which consisted of 3 motors, an Albion 6 wheeler, an ERF 6 wheeler and a Seddon 32/4 unit and trailer.
Cheers Dennis.
Thanks for the comments Dennis.

Hi Dean maybe out of context but just been reading about the Mansell Davies saga and after removing there O licence in this coming February they have been granted a new licence with two of the offspring of the previous operators now going to run what was basically a continuation of the old company, what a farce this is and the TC Nick Denton obviously has no principals at all & allegedly a big fat brown envelope under the table, noting there were substantial fines and costs issued in this case but that does not make this right.
Knowing the country is facing hard times fighting Covid19 especially in Wales this IMHO is still a gross misjudgement of the situation, they should have not been able to continue as it just makes a joke of the whole transport commissioning system. As there main business was hauling milk this probably influenced the decision to grant another licence as to find replacement haulage in bulk milk in a short time would not be easy and the farming community would have surely suffered, having said that they did have three months to achieve an alternative.
In conclusion one feels they have set a precedent in the transport world which could be referred to in other case scenarios, the old management team banned indefinitely with two siblings allegedly now running the show or that’s how it is portrayed, just my opinion of course but it was a big let off by any means, Buzzer.
I imagine that they will be under close scrutiny Buzzer.
