PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

windrush:
Yes Dean, you are being “good to me” for once! Actually that Foden is from our quarry (Ballidon) but I dont know the location? Driven from new by the late Dennis Wibberley who later worked in the weighbridge as the clerk until his retirement. It is his youngest brother Vernon’s funeral this friday. Vernon drove a tanker and Dennis the tipper, both were on fortnightly service the same day. After the servicing side in the lubrication bay any repairs were done by our garage. Dennis came in: “I have three broken springs” so we set too changing them. Half an hour later Vernon appears with his tanker; “I’ve four broken springs” and as tankers were more important than tippers (there was usually a spare tipper) we had to leave Dennis’s and concentrate on Vernons which didn’t go down well!

Here is Dennis on his last day before retirement, with my old ‘running partner’ on Tilcon/STB Transport Ray Gould from Brassington at the window! NMP

The Transcon is approaching the left turn which takes you in to British salt works and Pochin is on Brook Lane opposite B.I.P Chemicals and the tank wash.

Interesting stuff Dean ,advertisers must be the biggest bullers in the world ! I wonder what an original suitcase would be worth?

Did you ever see a suitcase Paul, we had a fleet of them but I never saw any cases? The distance lads would have found them handy. Maybe they ‘fell out of the cabs’ at North Riding Garages who supplied them? Edited to say that I see the advert is from 1968, we didn’t have any until 1971/72 so maybe they had been discontinued by that time? We did have a large collection of starting handles though!
