Yes Dean, you are being “good to me” for once! Actually that Foden is from our quarry (Ballidon) but I dont know the location? Driven from new by the late Dennis Wibberley who later worked in the weighbridge as the clerk until his retirement. It is his youngest brother Vernon’s funeral this friday. Vernon drove a tanker and Dennis the tipper, both were on fortnightly service the same day. After the servicing side in the lubrication bay any repairs were done by our garage. Dennis came in: “I have three broken springs” so we set too changing them. Half an hour later Vernon appears with his tanker; “I’ve four broken springs” and as tankers were more important than tippers (there was usually a spare tipper) we had to leave Dennis’s and concentrate on Vernons which didn’t go down well!
Here is Dennis on his last day before retirement, with my old ‘running partner’ on Tilcon/STB Transport Ray Gould from Brassington at the window! NMP

HI ,FOLKS WE HAD THAT SEDDON EX WOODHOUSE , MSX 10 L JUST A BIT OF USLESS INFO ,CHEERS BARRY
Hi Baz, I trust you and yours are keeping well and clear of this nasty virus ! When I saw that shot of the Woodhouse 8LXB Seddon I just knew that you would pop up with a post ! I think we’ve chatted about this motor before as I can remember when Malc Snr. bought it second hand more as a novelty he told me at the time but he didn’t run it very long and obviously he sold it to Ratcliffes which is how you come to buy it ! I recall that Malc didn’t reckon it when compared to the 8LXB Borderers and ERF’s he ran. The 8 LXB’s fitted in the handful of 32/4’s were down rated to 200bhp because of the 6:600 DB box that was used. So I guess it was a waste of 40 brake horses but still having to pay the large premium for the 8 potter engine I also recall Malc telling me there wasn’t much different between the performance of the Seddon and a good 180LXB ! I just bet Waddies re-tuned the Seddon to 240 BHP !! Regards Mr. Bewick.
Morning Dean,
Paul has done the bizzo! Nice 2 shots of Mervyn Appleby’s Atki’s, I reckon our dear departed friend John Goodreid would have sold these to Mervyn!
Thank you.

I wonder if you can help here Dean , i’ve just been reading an article in Heritage Comms magazine by Nick Baldwin and he mentions a feature he did on a guy who had a 50s AEC Mercury delivering meat to butchers. The feature was in Truck magazine many years ago and i remember reading it at the time, do you have it?
