Has Chris Gardner dropped you a few quid for an “Atkinson day”?! Cheer’s Pete

Hello Dean ,…and many thanks for the Severn Bridge clippings …and those south Wales Atkinsons certainly went down a storm …the old man loved them ! …lol …from the both of us …Geraint

Re Plevins

Looking at the Plevins truck, this could be the original company, as in later incarnations the two brothers operated different companies one in Hyde as a general haulier and one in Mossley as a wood recycling company.

The first I believe had a run in with the ministry/Vosa and lost its license.

The second is very successful and supplies wooden pellets to the power station next to the M1 opposite Meadowhall.

Sixties boy:
Re Pete Osbourne

I think he sold his fleet of the same name to Stillers transport (Stockton on tees) as they wanted to diversify away from steel and chemicals.

He later set up Innovate with backing of Icelandic bank, starting with a Scunthorpe cold store, followed by other companies including Corby Chill.

After it’s collapse he was instrumental in the Green group, which now has a couple of depots.

Thanks for your comments on Plevins and Pete Osbourne “Sixties boy”. Good stuff.

robroy:
Anybody got a pic of Plevin’s 300 Gardner powered Sed Atk 401?..A423 GFA.
It was originally owned by Air Products before that,
.I bought it off plevins around 88.
I sold it on to Ernie Sayce a South Wales steel haulier, with a private reg on it BXI 1454 with a high cab conversion. (There is a pic of it in my Trucknet gallery page)

Would love to see a photo of it in any of those guises.
Cheers.

Will have a word with Paul and see if he has a pic Rob.

I´m not so sure. I think it is an early Datsun, Bluebird I think. I think the hub cap and blinker repeater on the wing give it away. The Peugeot was the better car at that time though!

Dean look at Southampton thread to answer your location question I knew someone would know, Buzzer

Hi Dean.
Yes there was a tanker company called Masons, but I’m damned if I can remember where they were based - in the Midlands somewhere? I believe they specialized in milk haulage.
