PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

kmills:
The Knauf wagon is quite possibly one of Stobart’s, they had all the work out of the massive Knauf plant at Ridham, Kent.
The work was previously done by Hammond’s from Sittingbourne, by Stobart moved in on it in the late 90’s.

Cheers Keith

It looks as though you are correct Keith, the Merc is named “Clare Heather”,2 female names as is the usual Stobart practice.

Re Pete Osbourne

I think he sold his fleet of the same name to Stillers transport (Stockton on tees) as they wanted to diversify away from steel and chemicals.

He later set up Innovate with backing of Icelandic bank, starting with a Scunthorpe cold store, followed by other companies including Corby Chill.

After it’s collapse he was instrumental in the Green group, which now has a couple of depots.

Re Plevins

Looking at the Plevins truck, this could be the original company, as in later incarnations the two brothers operated different companies one in Hyde as a general haulier and one in Mossley as a wood recycling company.

The first I believe had a run in with the ministry/Vosa and lost its license.

The second is very successful and supplies wooden pellets to the power station next to the M1 opposite Meadowhall.

Anybody got a pic of Plevin’s 300 Gardner powered Sed Atk 401?..A423 GFA.
It was originally owned by Air Products before that,
.I bought it off plevins around 88.
I sold it on to Ernie Sayce a South Wales steel haulier, with a private reg on it BXI 1454 with a high cab conversion. (There is a pic of it in my Trucknet gallery page)

Would love to see a photo of it in any of those guises.
Cheers.

We have had some cracking Akinson Borderers on here.

The Welsh also liked their Atkinson’s.Some of these may well be Silver Knights looking at the reg’s. I believe they changed from
being called Silver Knights to Borderers around the J/K reg.

Hey Dean ,some really awesome shots thier ,Morfa Abernant and William Morgan all had drivers based in Hay on Wye and the Brecon areas .
E R Clissold were from the Abergavenny area ,MT

Geoffrey Reyner were from East Manchester, moved from Clayton to Droylsden and finally to Oldham.

Think they may have been founder members of Palletline?

Used to have a lot of ERF’s. New fleet went on contract work, second life on UK general haulage and final years on local container work.
