Aye when I were a Lad growing up in Kendal Jos.Millicans used to be always running down through town loaded with Pulp wood from the Kielder forrest to Bowaters Ellesmere port. They ran a lot of Albion Reivers in those far off days. Cheers Bewick.
Lyn Morgan was a cowboy the Volvo I had only 1 headlight working was told to buy one myself as he wasn’t paying, Gareth’s battery lug was broken he told Gareth buy a battery out of his own pocket that’s the cowboy he was
Looks like she’d earned her corn n perhaps a front end mishap

Dukes Transport bought over by Montgomery about 2001/2002 but to my knowledge the Dukes name no longer used.

Where ever it was, he had an easy time of it with a single-axle trailer, BD!Haha well spotted ROF!
What would’ve been the gross net? 18 tons?
From memory- which ain’t very good, these days- I seem to recall that three axles got you 20 tons gross, but I’m willing to be corrected. Our North-Eastern pal, Larry will probably know.

3 axles got you 26 ton gross. Dieseldog66.

Hi all ,re axle weights when I was shunting we would weigh out tandem trailers with two axle unit gross weight 32 tonnes which meant trailers could carry up to 20 tonnes ,when tri axles came in it went up to 38 ,meaning we would put on 23 tonnes, then a six wheeler with tri axle went to 42 tonne now it is 44 tonne hope this makes sense cheers John
Hi I put this on a few pages back regarding axle weights cheers John. Hope this helps diesel dog
the Car Carrier , JCD, stands for James Car Delivery, who took over Progressive Group in the late 60’s and was then taken over by Tolemans, JCD were Orange in colour, but this one seems to be just after the Tolemans take over and painted in an early Tolemans colour.

I had one of those, a light blue colour, when I first started as an O/D Buzzer Cheers Dennis.
One for “Coomsey” as he likes brick trucks !
Ensor Foden !
I think the Bedford TM on the last page would have been Cadbury Bourneville .
Also, re the discussion of when Volvo moved the F88 wipers from the top to the bottom of the screen - my Dad bought a new 88 in October 1972 that had the wipers on the bottom. That was the first lorry I ever slept in- and I can still remember it. I can’t remember anything useful though.

Remember them well never run out of their yards big fleet I seem to think. Best job driving Butterley bricks all over the country n nearly always return bricks back to the Midlands. It seemed to me that architects in red brick areas wanted gold coloured houses n gold brick, red .Backload ,if it weren’t Butterley yard , used an old bag to cover headboard although the blue n black motor was a bit of a giveaway .Cheers Dean
