Hi Harvey,
Hope you are well,I saw Barry Pudney in Romsey some time ago,I’ll see if I can track him down, he started at Princes when they were AEC dealers at Tanners Brook and briefly moved to Stringers in Portsmouth when they had the AEC dealership under Princes, then moved back when Princes took on Volvo. Walt Safe was also in the stores.
Regards
Richard

I’m sure this is REU 455S, a ■■■■■■■ 250 with a Jennings sleeper conversion. Geoff’s first B-series after 4 or 5 A-series. He had 3 more after this one but they all had the full works sleeper cab. He didn’t have any children but his nephew, Neill, runs the company now. Geoff passed away some years ago now - lovely bloke

Ray Smyth:
Anyone recognise the ERF ■■?Hi Dean, The ERF looks like it could be Yorkshire Imperial Metals. They were a major manufacturer of copper pipe
and fittings, the type that you see on Central Heating Boilers and radiators. I don’t know where they were from in
Yorkshire, but they had a very large factory on the East Lancashire Road, (A580) at Kirkby, near Liverpool.
Kirkdale Haulage from Liverpool were regularly seen with loads of raw copper that came through Liverpool docks
on route to the factory, which is not there anymore, and in its place is a large brand new Marstons Pub, which I
think is called “The Copper Kettle”, Cheers.Ray.
Thanks for the comments Ray.
Ray Smyth:
This Leyland Octopus of Kirkdale Haulage is unloading at the Yorkshire Imperial Metals
factory on the East Lancashire Road (A580) at Kirkby near Liverpool. Before the M62 was
extended through to Queens Drive in Liverpool, the East Lancashire Road was the main
route to and from Liverpool Docks, as I am sure some of our older members will recall.
Ray Smyth.
Thats a cracking pic Ray thanks for posting.

hi Geraint and Paul ,
According to my old uncle Chivers of Brynmawr ,also had buses and were members of the Monmouth Tipping group along with Stephens and Chambers hauling slag out of Llanwern .
Does any body remember Black Rock haulage ? tippers that worked on the construction of the Heads of the Valleys road ,and they too hauled out of Dunlop Semtex ,its remarkable the feedback on South Wales hauliers on Dean and Pauls thread ! MT
Hey MT …your old uncle and my old man…should get together…what with thier combined knowledge of South Wales hauliers…and perhaps start their own thread …!! lol .
Dad can remember Black Rock haulage …they had Leyland Octopus 8 wheelers …in the pale blue Dunlop colours …Geraint.

Unit is with Thompsons. X Dentressangle. Thompsons bought most of the G340 tractor units that Nobbies ran in the UK at 44 ton on Intermodal swap body work. N701-703 DRO are 3 that spring to mind.
