Hi Dean, I ordered it a couple of months ago and just managed to get a November build slot, I believe they’re taking orders for next August now. All the manufacturers are quoting long lead times, but the dealers have a lot of pre ordered stock coming in. That’s ok if you want what they’ve got, but I didn’t, I want a manual gearbox, 18spd Eaton-Fuller, heavier duty drive axles, super 40s which are basically 46,000lb axles in a 40,000lb housing and a slightly lower rear axle ratio, 3.70 rather than the 3.25/3.36/3.42 that are the norm with a double overdrive gearbox.

Morning Dean.
I haven’t a clue who this ERF tanker belonged to,I know that Clapcotts from Poole and Totton ran some dark blue tankers, maybe Buzzer recognises it?
What do you mean ,you dont know Chris ■■? Not like you chap !
Yes it beat me for a start but I’m reliably informed that the A Series is one of Clapcotts and worked out of Esso Fawley on bitumen work.
I did mention Clapcotts but weren’t sure………………………………………………………

I seem to remember that Peterbilts were built more to the customer’s specification rather than say a kenworth.
What lumps in it ■■

At first glance, with all that tin worm, I thought it must be an 88!
The road test comments were interesting , with the testers conclusion being that the SA 400 with the non turbo engine the best bet . Its hard to believe that 32 tonners were being offered with 5 speed boxes even though i know Bewick had at least 1 and the test motor went very well for the day.I think the most suprising thing was that the testers didnt put the Scania way out in front comfort wise
