Peterbilt.
Who does the ERF tanker belong to then Chris ■■?
Molo Seddon.
Rugby Cement ERF.
Think it says E.C.Ward on the Foden door.
Bedford TM livestock truck. Looks like newport on the door ? Anyone recognise it ■■
Car Transporters DAF,well loaded. I assume that it normally pulled a car transporter ■■
ITT on the DAF. Probably wrong but they used to make TV’s called ITT ■■
W.H.Ratcliffe MAN.
BFI Fiat. Thats a sight you dont see anymore a truck smoking like that.
Crosby Doors Bedford TM.
I dont remember Ratcliffe’s having any units in white, most of theirs were green?
Pete.
DEANB:
Norman Offer ERF. I think from memory there yard was just before the dock entrance in Southampton
if you were going to the Rank Hovis mill.
Norman Offer had their yard opposite Dock Gate 10, although it was reduced in size when the new road took part of it.
They finished in the mid-2000s as I recall, and the new Police HQ was built on the site. As I recall, the local authority considered it a “landmark site” and didn’t want any grubby industry spoiling it
A year or two earlier, Martyn Offer had helped me out with storage for my Atki after I had brought it down from Lancashire, and I recall him telling me that he still had WAM 325K and was restoring it, although I have no idea what has become of it since

H Dean.ISR was International Synthetic Rubber and their site was at Hythe not far from Fawley. Henry Smithers were big players in ISR shifting the rubber to a place in Wiltshire somewhere,I think it was Membury.ISR also had a place at Grangemouth.
Thanks for confirming the name Chris.
International Synthetic Rubber was the company that were on Poole
docks.
That’s right Chris, ISR stored at both Membury and Yatesbury airfields in the mid-70s - the Yatesbury facility, at least, was operated by Syms of Calne. Pandoro used to load from both sites at that time, for delivery to Michelin factories in Northern Ireland. From memory this was Ballymema and, perhaps, Glengormley, although I’m not sure about the latter
Those Peterbilts haven’t changed much have they, here’s mine, unbelievably its 3yrs newer than my 2014 Volvo next to it.

Morning Dean.
I haven’t a clue who this ERF tanker belonged to,I know that Clapcotts from Poole and Totton ran some dark blue tankers, maybe Buzzer recognises it?
Buzzer:
While we are at it the little F86 I think was an Ex E.J.Thomas from Lasham airfield Alton, probably an OD took the motor on as they had a lot of subbies, Buzzer
One new for Mike Thomas and one for a subbie.
All gone now, including the hair and waist line.

I saw two Volvos just like yours parked up in a yard in Bradford the other week, and for the life of me i can`t remember where. How do they compare to the American motors?
ERF-NGC-European:
You are right to ask that question, Dean, about why Framptons bought ERF 5MWs rather than 7MWs. My theory is that as they bought RHD moderately-powered units, they were only interested in the sleeper-cabs. The 5MW lower-powered versions were much cheaper so that would have kept the accountant happy! Only my opinion, so open to real knowledge. Robert876543210
moderately powered is right on these , my XYD998N ( x framptons) had a 220 ■■■■■■■ , 250 would have been better and when my uncle managed to write off my r reg b series , i was planning to transplant the 250 ■■■■■■■ out of that into XYD , would have made a good motor for my work , but i ended up packing the company up instead

The Peterbilt is a custom build, so it’s an apples to oranges comparison in this case, but in general the Volvos are very good trucks, from a driver’s perspective the cab layout and i-shift are the best out there, the dealer workshops are another story though, which is why I’m replacing that Volvo with a Peterbilt which will be rolling down the assembly line next month.

Glevum Transport and M.D Lindsay were one and the same. Not sure which one morphed into the other but I recall Glevum carrying scrap and Lindsay doing car transporters, both with tidy and smart FL10’s. Not sure if they’re still going but there is one of there FL’s on the show scene I think…
Glevum transport was started by mick Lindsay who at the time was also the transport manager for coopers Swindon.when they started out they ran erf,s later moving on to f10 s then fl10s.when mick was nearing retirement he handed over the reigns to Darren his son who slowly moved away from bulk tipper work and more into car transportation for Honda. They are still going today

Volvo are no different to any of the others, they’ve got you by the short and curlies as the trucks are so complicated and need to visit the dealer for all but the simplest repair, so they take full advantage of that. Volvo had me over by damaging a radiator during a cylinder head replacement and refusing to accept responsibility, even though it was obvious that they had caused the problem. I had a tantrum and vowed never to have another Volvo. I’m buying Peterbilt for now, if they have me over I’ve got Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack and Western Star to go through before I run out of options [emoji1]
