Hi Dean,Your neck of the woods.
Do you recall the name of the haulier at the far end of Allens lane, Poole. Off the B3068 Blandford road.
He specialised in Factory equipment removals. Father (grumpy old sod) and son, smart motors. Heavy cranes on units. Harvey
Unfortunately i do and trust me the son takes after the father very well !!! Thats the company i was talking
about in my earlier message regarding some of “Kempston” pics of the 8 wheelers with cranes. The company
was AET and he is still operating. But lets not spoil the thread by putting any of them on here !
“Woops” sorry mate, did not know you had a bad experiance, but can understand why. Harvey
Years gone past we used to backload fertilizer for Dorchester transport on French SCAC trailers we pulled out of Portsmouth, loading in Avonmouth and also Billingham from ICI plants. Nice tidy loads which we delivered to distribution depots for onward shipment to farms later on. Not strictly sure if it was kosha to back load the French trailers but we did a lot and never got pulled up for it, Buzzer

Hi Dean,
Have you any shots of the firm from, I think Wareham ? they ran some long wheelbase, dropside, Ergo Octopus’s in the 60’s/early 70’s. I used to come across them when I stopped at Durose café in Newcastle, Stoke. I think they could have been called Wareham Transport, but it was a long while ago ! Oh! and what was their main traffic anyone ? Cheers Dennis.
You have a got a good memory Dennis ! You are correct Wareham Transport were local to me and the owner
also owned Dorchester Transport and Blandford Transport. There main traffic would have been bulkers hauling
grain etc. Out of Wareham they would have hauled alot of china clay and there were regular clay boats to be loaded at Poole docks back in the 1970/80s. I would imagine they still load boats to this day.
No pics of there Octopus’s.
Hello Dennis, Dean.
Dug this pic out from about 1970 something, Harry Perry, Wareham transport is centre with striped tie, Handing over a new truck could cost a whole day and your liver Harvey

Anyone recognise the seddon taken at Poole docks ■■
Saviem looks to be the same company as above, again taken at Poole docks.
Think this one is Interoute as i seem to remember that was there logo on the door.
Alberti & Santi were regulars through Poole. Anyone know if they are still going, they were
from Italy.
JG Haulage Scania from Parkstone,Poole.
Anyone recognise the F7 leaving Poole docks ■■?
Poole Trucking DAF again taken at Poole docks.
James Transport Transcon from Poole.
Italian Volvo F12 in Poole docks.
French Mercedes arriving at Poole docks.
The Seddon in that colour and in Poole has got to be ex Christopher Hill Mills which was based in Poole, looks like it may have been bought as a shunter, Buzzer.
Hi Dean,
Think he was still going about 1980 ish but from memory he ran it very much on his own and i would think if he passed away the company would fall quite quickly.
Eric Pettit and I delivered a motor to him one day, about 10am and i got home at 4 the next morning.
Harry of course was in his office at 8.30. running a little late, a lovely man and a privillege to do business with.
PS: I apreciate I see operators in a different light to someone who works for them. Harvey

Yes you could be right Buzzer, but the only thing i would say is the Saviem is the same colour scheme
and that is on a T reg and i think but could be wrong that Christopher Hill by then were red ?
Hopefully someone may know for sure ? These old pics certainly get the brain going !
Remember this old beast ! Rotinoff Super Atlantic.
Its amazing what turns up in these old mags.
Click on pages twice to read.
