Well that motor is a bit before my time as a driver, but I would say kipping across the seats of a Ford Transit pick up and a TK Bedford at 6 foot 1, would be as bad, then building up a bed in a ERF B series and a Sed Atk both day cabs, would all be a reason for my dodgy lower back today.
I did the occasional night out in a Ford D series day cab. It had the stubby handbrake lever between the driver’s seat & the two seat passenger one. It was literally a pain in the side when sleeping over it.
I carried a few house bricks in the passenger footwell to chock the wheels, so I could release the handbrake down out of the way.
A two axled rigid with an STGO Cat 1 plate? That must have been photoshopped into place
Wide load? Over length(especially with 2 'vans on a drawbar outfit). Not sure about STGO regs 'cos when I did that sort of work it was load and go (hard!) with a D series day cab (sleep in the 'van!), no flashing lights, no escort vans, no movement orders and no clue-happy days
No tweaking, just as I snapped it.
Whatever STGO might have meant previously, currently it just refers to loads heavier that the 44 T allowed under C&U regs (50T, 80T & 150T respectively).
You can have long (up to 25.9m) or wide loads (up to 4.3m) under C&U regs, but I guess over those dimensions is where the STGO plates might be required.
Could be the width then as I can remember moving 14’ wide units although 26 m length might have been a step too far even on a drawbar!
Also STGO road tax
The similarities between them and us is strong, particularly with the government protection of their railways.
Protecting your privacy too, another one which won’t work here.
Got it now, by going direct to YT. Only had time to watch a bit but they do like their 8 leggers and drags don’t they.
Yeah, body and dog is pretty ubiquitous there, whereas it is usually vocational here.
NZ is very particular about axle weights, see https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/vehicle-types/vehicle-classes-and-standards/vehicle-dimensions-and-mass/
(scroll down to " Axle mass (weight) limits for standard vehicles" just for an example)
Finally found the time to watch that NZ vid btw, but on the tv not the computer, after painstakingly tapping the title on the remote. Annoying because when watching something else the day before I saw it on offer, but you never get back to where you were on YT.
An interesting watch though, but for the older ones amongst us here, brought up on '50s and '60s 8 leggers and drags, it does seem a bit odd with such big drags, I expect we were always afflicted with ‘tail wagging dog’ syndrome.
As it local I think Retired Old Fart started out on these
Ade
I’d say Sentinel.
Warmer than a Mk 1 Atki.
