driving position,The livery is familiar, but i cannot place it

Stay safe.

These two Mike Ponsonby low-loaders were in a queue of several lorries carrying Porta-Kabin type units
for delivery to Wigan Infirmary, about 2 miles away, to create extra capacity because of Covid-19.
The queue of lorries were parked at the DW Stadium, the home of Wigan Athletic F. C., and were called
one at a time to the Infirmary about 2 miles away, where there was a mobile crane waiting to unload them.

Ray Smyth.

Kevin, I had completely forgotten about the figurehead at the ship breaking yard until you reminded me.
Cheers, Leyland600.

Ford’s latest.
Oily

Probably made in Turkey, where they’re sold under the Otosan brand.

Yes they are made in Turkey.
Oily, that’s the old model.
Here’s a new model Ford truck ( also made in Turkey).

Are they any good, or just cheap? I can’t remember seeing any in France or elsewhere and I do look at lorries wherever I go. Those are Portuguese I reckon, plenty of Portos come through France.

And why would Ford jump back into the heavy market, after so many years away, when there is such good competition at the top? Next thing we’ll be seeing big Bedfords again, made in Trans Dniester or somewhere. :unamused:

Ford F-Max, European truck of the year 2019.

Other than in Turkey ,there’s Ford truck dealers/ distributors in Portugal, Romania & I think Bulgaria.
Have only seen Turkish, Portuguese & Romanian reg ones in Belgium ( were I live), although the Romanian one was owned by a Turkish company.
Not sure how good they are or how cheap/ expensive they are, but the Turks swear by them ( obviously).

I’ve posted some other pics on the truck pictures side of TNUK, but haven’t figured out how to link this thread to that one.

Hi Lawrence Dunbar, this picture and the monument got the marbles stirring and memories of leaving the A1 at Chester le Street then by Washington to Newcastle with Fiat cars, the drop was right by St James’ Park, can’t remember the dealers name. Back then(early '60s) Washington was all new build and one of the “New Towns”

A Karrier van of BICC, British Insulated Callenders Cables from Prescot, Lancashire, and Helsby in Cheshire.
It is at Canning Place on the Dock Road in Liverpool, and the Karrier is following a Jarvis Robinson Leyland
Beaver and drawbar trailer carrying Guinness tanks. I believe that the pictures are from a piece of cine film.
I found them on Bootle History Forum. Click pictures for full image.

I cannot see the Lambton Worm with its greet big googly eyes and tail coiled round Penshaw Hill Lawrence ? but I did see at Sunderland Roker sea front circa 1995-9 when the Sunderland Illuminations were staged

Must have been brothers, we have Worm Hill and Worm Hill Terrace opposite (both on google map) at Fatfield next to the old bridge.

“ whist lads haad your gobs and aa’ll tell yer aall an aaful story, whist lads haad your gobs and aa’ll tell yer aboot the Worm”

Young Lord Lambton chopped the worm’s head off eventually

Can’t quite remember but the name Irvine’s Fiat dealers garage/s comes to mind, could be wrong.
