Just a couple today the first not sure what make of truck it is, the second an F88 on a 1971 reg plate which in its day must have been awesome to drive, something I did in 1973 for Richard Benney, Helston, Cornwall reg no. YAF 888J 16 speed box in her as well he bought it a year old and also had a J reg Scania brand new, plus three ERF A series and my regular charger a GUY big J . When I first drove that F88 I thought I was dreaming what a move up in the world back then, Buzzer.

The top photo is of a Scammell.

One of Sid Harrisons of Sheffield I think ?

Regards John.

Definitely one of Sid’s,you can see part of the Sheffield phone number on the Scammell next to it.I’m not sure how many of those type cabbed Scammells Harrisons had but I’ve had a lift in one to the Oakamoor CafĂ© on A38 when I worked for Evans.
Sid’s old 8-legger Scammells, including R8s used to do internal work in steel Peech and Tozer - later BSC at Templeborough Rotherham.Out side number 3 cogging mill where we used to load billets was a bad bend and a feller called Harry used to watch for possible collisions between wagons and warn drivers .He were always cadging ■■■■ and one day two of Harrisons drivers pushed him into his hut, turned it round facing wall and backed a 8-legger up to it while they had some snap. He never forgot that and bought his own bloody Park Drive.

IIRC Templeborough had a Tetleys pub
on site. Those steel rolling mills were hard graft for the men, I used to deliver fuel oil there and many’ s the time I thought
‘I couldn’t do that sort of hard graft’

Sid Harrisons was the opposite side of the road, almost 100% Scammell. I always wondered how they’d managed to squeeze a second steer/tag axle(?) into those bonneted Scammells.

Fixed the pic above yours. Some pics just have to be reduced before posting. You can do this easily by opening the pic in ‘paint’ and reducing the size there. Or you can paste it onto a Word doc. and do the same. Cheers, Robert
