Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

MOC:
your a detective aswell now then :exclamation: I have posted loads of my pics on the forum and any that are copyrighted on the pic iv asked before hand. if there not then
how are you supossed to know whos taken it. I will not copyright any of my own pics ,there on here for everyone to enjoy, which is how it should be. :exclamation:
By the way iv been into vintage splitscreen campers for 20 years and is my hobby now aswell as Trucks !!

Hi MOC,
All I can suggest is,if you can’t see the copyright and its not your pic,ask the person who posted it if you want to post it elsewhere.
You have put some good stuff on this thread, don’t spoil it by putting other peoples stuff on from other threads.
Cheers Dave.

The problem with that Dave is ,as you said you posted that pic three years ago , in a thread that is way back in the begining
and if it hasnt been posted since, people are never going to see it again . ,and your right i have never even thought of ever selling
any pics , yours or anyones or even my own.

OK Dave let’s just move on :bulb: I think people who lift pic’s and then try to sell them as their own are scum, from what I’ve seen of Moc’s post’s, and loads of really interesting pic’s, I really don’t think that’s something he would do so I think you jumped the gun there mate and really should apologise to Moc. Just my opinion, there are to many idiots using this website without two of the best Pic poster’s falling out over something daft :open_mouth: Come on fella’s virtual handshake and move on, it was just a misunderstanding

Regards
Dave Penn;

Cheers Dave.

So are are we done with it now, and move on Dave. and Dave Penn thanks.

gentlemen, please dont fall out! this geriatric derives great pleasure from what both of you show!! If ever,...and only if ever, I can find some way of posting the filing cabinets full of pictures that I have, assembled from all of my history with lorries, here, there, and every where! Im bound to infringe, (unintentually), someones “copyright”. So please bear with me, and in turn bear with each other, what you both show is, and I am sure many will agree, of real interest to luddites, and surfers, and “real” drivers every where, and of more importance, bring great enjoyment. Cheerio for now.

Dave, the picture above your ‘Brisbane’ one is MINE but I’m not complaining :unamused: …Enjoy

Interesting all this about image copyright, having been taken to task previously by admin, I dug deep on the net with regard to what it means, it’s quite a can of worms and has different applications in different countries and even states within countries.
The most basic rule is that if you take a photo, that photo belongs to you.
If you publish it (internet e.g.) without a copyright mark, you still own the copyright but give flexibility to its future use, without title or link back to origin, an interested party, be it a collector or in this case a forum poster has no proof of ownership which in strict copyright law is needed for permission to use.
All published material, books, magazines, newspapers, ad brochures and any promotional type stuff is copyrighted, but there is a time limit on magazines, brochures, newspaper and promotion leaflet stuff. Pictures taken before a certain date(year) are now copyright expired.
Copyright material for sharing and in some cases adapting is abundant on the net within the terms of Creative Commons and GFDL licences*.
People by the thousand (worldwide) genuinely what to share their photos* without the restriction of All Rights Reserved label attached. Flickr’s photostream albums being a good example.
I take no sides, I enjoy muchly MOC’s contribution, but also get the point Dave is making.

Hiya.I too noticed MOC had moved stuff from the scrapbook thread over onto this thread, the Foden of Elliots in his last picture posting was taken by myself…I dont mind anyone using cuttings for other threads as I would be a bit hypicritical to say they were mine cos they really aren’t,I just was a sad sort to have saved them, perhaps a small acknowledgement to the original poster wouldn’t have hurt or a pointer to the thread it came from would have been nice
Cheers Bubbs,

+1
My point exactly Marc.
Cheers Dave.

I am quite happy if someone uses a Bewick photo(that I have 'took) and uses it on another part of the site, but what really ■■■■■■ me off is someone “lifting” a pic and then trying to sell it elsewhere as if it was their own,not to mention the fact that the prospective purchaser must have “more brass than sense” and would only have to ask me if they could copy a particular photo for whatever reason. But I suppose once your photos have been set free into the “ether” there’s not a lot you can do about the Theiving Barstewards who will always try to take advantage of someone elses efforts.I still have another 5 or 600 hundred shots to scan so when the “copyright” issue does erupt you just think why bother, leave them up in the loft and don’t get involved! Cheers Dennis.

hi all,
dennis for me,your final point sums it up perfectly. the biggest thing that worries me about this ongoing problem.is that it will steer alot of people away from sharing their images from a bygone era.that is a terrible shame
regards andrew.

In the past I have posted stuff not knowing who it belonged to or indeed where it came from, I have never lifted from another thread on trucknet and would not condone such a caper. As Bubbs says acknowledgement and thread source is all, I totally agree.
In the distant past I took some photos and at the time did not put a lot of value on them, hence most of them went astray, I have started snapping again and hopefully others might want to share them, with that all important feedback of thanks for that mate.
I am not sure I get the Ebay thing, if the “seller” has lifted it,… by the same method so could the buyer and save his/her money.
I will continue to search the net for permissable material for posting and sharing on here.
In my long gone lorry driving days the camaradrie was second to none, help loading, help when broken down(miles from a phone) by a total stranger, he wasn’t really, he was a lorry driver.
Bring it back.
