I can remember following that GMC General through Romford one day way back when.

Dieseldog66:
I can remember following that GMC General through Romford one day way back when.

I was in our yard this particular Day and my boss said i got a supprise for you,He said your due for a new truck and providing it couples up to your trailer
ok then its going to be yours. At the time we were doing a lot of Merzario road/Rail trailers, with a very deep Pin coupling , so evenualy this same
GMC came into our yard Brand new on trade plates with a couple of reps from Alasia Trucks the Volvo agents ,and i was excited couldnt wait to get in it and
couple up to the empty trailer ,Had to slide the fithwheel right to the back, started to reverse very slowly under the trailer till i hit the King pin and was coupled up.
Got out,to take a look and ■■■■,there just wasnt enough room to even turn the wheel without trailer either catching back of cab or even the the trailer legs.Alright to go in a straight line though  So bam that was the end of my GMC General. Still got me new truck but was a nice new Transcon 350,so wasnt all bad,but always wondered what the General would have been like to drive. And how nice the big sleeper on the GMC would have been to sleep in for a change.

A fine example.

Hi erfguy,
The volvo parked at Blytheswood depot would have had a grab and been used for log loading from the forest onto wagons without grabs.
Similar idea to this Scania.
